Front air struts???

This am my front airshocks had collapsed. Equally on both sides. After starting the ride height raised to normal. Drove to work and after about hour and half was down again.

Seems like FR seems to drop slightly faster then FL. They have about 70k on them. I was taking it into my mechanic tomorrow. They mentioned putting it on a scan machine not sure what they expect as as no airmatic error on dash.

I thought only only one side would collapse with a bad air shock. Seems strange both would go out at same time. Anything else to look at?

Was not sure which computer controls the leveling.
Thanks steve

You struts will need to be replaced. Highly unlikely its the valve block

Yes forgot to mention I replaced the valve and compressor about 25k ago. Just found it weird they both went at same time. Or if one is bad will the other bleed air also?

also as soon as I open pass door with ignition off. The car rises. I hear valves or soilionoids but don't hear compressor. It is still not at 100% correct ride height but probably 75. Wonder if computer glitch ?

one bad shock will drag the other one down too so it appears both are bad. my guess is you either have a bad shock or a bad compressor- or both- the right size leak on a shock will shorten significantly the life of the compressor.

unless you hear the shock hissing and losing air- car needs to be read to determine which shock is actually leaking or if it is compressor or both.

You need new struts. Common problem. Have them check your compressor.

Ok. Well had been gone in another vehicle and planned to take in tommarrow. Just got home and the front level looks perfect unlike Thursday and Friday. Now back like it was.

I had replaced compressor and block about 30k miles ago. Guessing maybe a computer problem?

If you have 70K/mi on the front air springs, it's time for new ones. When ours went bad, sometimes it would drop really quickly...sometimes much more slowly.

I replaced both front struts at around 90k, waited too long since the low syndrome only occur intermittent. Believe me eventually they will both sitting on top of the tires, by then tires worn out, compressor and valve distributer both need to be replaced.

Its in the shop now, going to replace the front struts and a few other preventatives. I had replaced the serpitine belt at 70k, I have about 60K on it figured I would do it also. I had not seen a reccomendation on these, but I did have an oil episode once with the filter, so figure I weakened it some then.
