Warranty For 2011 GL450 (and 2011 ML350)
Hey MB World!
I did some searching on the threads, but had trouble finding the info I'm looking for, so I'm starting a new thread.
Background: two years ago, we purchased two 2011 MB SUVs (GL450, ML350), both with relatively low mileage. There were no decent third party warranties made available to us from Carmax or our credit union.
The cars have been great (only one repair, plus scheduled maintenance), but as the miles and age begin to increase, we feel like the odds may be increasing against us. I'm particularly concerned about the GL with its infamous air suspension.
I found some names on this site, but no one that could offer a comprehensive warranty for our cars (they're not eligible for MB warranties, due to their ages). A co-worker owns two used BMWs and connected me with his independent dealer, who was able to run the VINs and provide estimates for our cars.
Here are the details:
(1.) 2011 GL450, ~45k miles... warranty = $4695 for 5yrs/100k miles
(2.) 2011 ML350, ~26k miles... warranty = $3695 for 7yrs/100k miles
Both warranty periods are from the start date, and since we only place 6-8k miles per year, it's all about the 5 & 7 years coverage (not the mileage). Also, they're both bumper-to-bumper with $100 deductibles.
Questions:
(1.) Do these estimates seem reasonable? I'm not debating third party warranties, but rather the price vs. coverage time.
(2.) Can anyone recommend a person or third party company, who could provide a similar warranty estimate?
So, far, these are literally the only quotes we've been able to get. Maybe we can find better prices and/or longer coverage on the GL, but at the very least, have something to compare with our current estimates.
If you can't post something publicly, please feel free to PM me.
Thanks everyone!

My co-worker said it's "US1 Autoprotect." I think he really means 1st US AutoProtect. I wanted to confirm with his dealer and do some research, but I can say that he's used them on about $3k of repairs, where everything was covered except the maintenance items.

Signed on with Delta Auto Protect. Both cars, covering most/all repair items (inc. air suspension, electronics, etc.), $0 deductible.... 7yrs/100k miles... for under $3k per car. Ran it past my independent mechanic, and everything looked legit.
I'll post an update if anything changes, or after I submit my first claim.

I bought one due to price but may return it -- clearly says in exclusions shocks/ struts not covered, any leaks are termed regular for a used car and will not be covered... airbags not covered .. they quoted me 2400 for the GL 5 yrs, Additional 100k

If you care about installing aftermarket parts don't waste the money. Those warranties don't cover any suspension or steering parts, electronics, leaks. The do not cover OE parts, they always cover based on prices from Autozone or cheaper suppliers and for the labor they calculate based on the lowest rate possible and like you are working on a 1970 car, that everything is easy to access.
