What gains are attributed with the tune for GL350 bluetec X164 (2010) ?

 

Changes to the clibration include:

- Ignition & Fuel Mass adjustment

- Torque limits and Boost targets are raised

- Speed limiter removal

- Improved performance, throttle response and drivability

- Rpm and shifting limits can also be increased

- Increased economy (1-4mpg on average HWY cruise)

Good luck, Quick. I've been on the fence for quite a while now regarding a tune. I get good mileage right now, and power seems plenty adequate, too. I'm just skeptical about changing the existing factory tune and while I'm sure I'll get more power, I don't want to sacrifice fuel economy. And if the tune is a compromise (adding power and mpg), then will it be worthwhile considering the cost. Those are the thoughts going through my head, anyways! For what it's worth, I'm not opposed to getting a tune - have done it with other cars - just haven't had a great experience with it so far. No problems, mind you, it's just been sort of "meh".

 

From what I have read of others experiences with the ML550 tune is that gas mileage actually improves along with throttle response especially off the line. If I can get that I'm all for it but I agree if I had to sacrifice MPG I would pass.
