Wipers, brake lights, blinkers, remote, Gas g trunk , rear seat won't work and more
Car was working fine until I tried to fill up the tank but gas tank door won't open either with remote or unlocking from driver's door manually. Drove home and gas tank door opened. Drove back to gas station and filled up but car won't start. Good samaritan came and told me to remove the press start and use the keys. Car cranked but fuel gauge didn't work. Since then, remote, rear seat buttons, wipers, brake lights, blinkers, trunk won't work. SRS light came on, restraint, blind spot assist won't work and lastly engine light came one. Took it to the dealership, I was told the SAM is corroded but the car or the compartment was never wet. I replaced the relay someone mentioned here for similar issues but didn't work. Before spending $1500 at dealership to replace SAM and still not sure if that will solve the issues, any help will do.
The car or SAM is not wet, only thing I could think of maybe corrosion during bad heat few weeks ago in Maryland. If you have good fuse diagram for the 2012 gl450, I will appreciate it too. I see the SAM, is it easy to take it out for cleaning?
Thanks all

Front is under passenger front footwell. It could have been a dropped drink or something.
Also is your battery original? It might be a dying battery.

So I should just go and replace it? Or what do you think about the folks that talks about removing it and cleaning the corrosion? The MB dealership tech was talking about drains from rear sunroof and tailgate that could have allowed water to damage the rear SAM that's how the car was designed. MB could do better. To replace the rear sam is $1500 but the rear SAM at MB dealership cost $400, so $1100 is labor. It's crazy.

Yes. I've heard water seeps in and collects there ruining the Sam.
If you ask nicely and provide your vin maybe Alx can post the mb instructions on how to remove the Sam. He sometimes has access to those documents.
Otherwise there are threads of people who upgraded the Sam to upgrade their rear tailigtts to led. Youll find instructions on Sam removal there as well.

How did cleaning corrosion from the rear SAM work for you? I'm having similar issues. I found water under both front seats. My wipers, cruise, horn, hi-beams, turn signals, pass. rear foglight, and tailgate are not working. I pulled the front AND rear SAM to inspect and treat corrosion. I'm wondering if I have to have it programmed since the battery was disconnected for about a month?

I cleaned the corrosion on the rear SAM but the issues didn't get resolved. I bought new battery as well but nothing changed. I didn't take it for reprogramming since the auxiliary battery was not disconnected. I ended up selling the beautiful car on Copart. Wish you good luck on resolving your issues. Benz told me $1300 plus tax to replace the SAM as a "start". I already had $200 for diagnostics and I didn't feel like venturing into infinite repairs.

What year is yours? A guy from Nigeria bought mine. It's easy fix and lot cheaper there in terms of labor. The local mechanics will figure it out easy and cheaper labor.

I did the reset several times too. I hope it works for you. Mine was 2012. I wanted to buy older year thinking there would be less complication but from your experience, it's all the same.

Did you finally get it fixed? I have been having the same problem and the car is parked for a year now
