This isn’t exactly what you are asking but until anyone else responds, see if this helps. I’ve got a 08 GL320 (130k) and the valve body is creating abnormal shifts. Harsh downshift into first when ambient outside temp is low and fluid not warmed up. Occasional slight upshift flair reminiscent of the old 123/126 body diesels. Theory is the bores inside the valve body have wear and pressures are not able to be maintained for some of the shifts. This one has had 3 tranny services so not necessarily neglected compared to some. I’ve gotten quotes for a new valve body and controller (also called a conductor plate). The conductor plate is what requires the coding (easily done at the dealer or Indy with the right programmer). $2100/$2200 parts, fluid, filter, labor and coding. I also got a quote for a factory reman transmission and it is $3850 (part only). This comes with a new valve body and controller ($1350 value +/-), filled with fluid and ready for install. I also got a quote on an independent rebuild and it was similarly priced at $3890. It either used my existing valve body/controller or additional cost for those parts new. Install costs on the factory reman obviously vary with dealer hourly labor rates and/or what an independent might charge you. The quotes I’ve gotten at dealers are within 5% either side of $5k for the reman installed (coded, out the door). The next hiccup (in the world of reman transmissions) is to do (or not) a torque converter. Most rebuilders don’t want to warrant a rebuild without including a rebuilt torque converter. The independent rebuild quote came with torque converter and the factory one is $1200 extra. Factory warranty is 24mo/24k miles and it includes the labor if done at a dealership. Hopefully this will help.

Replaced with rebuilt, ~$5K installed.
Here's the rebuild shop I got it from https://mercedesdismantlers.com/722%209.htm According to thread on Benzworld, they do good work with the mods.
You need to see the invoice? I don't mind sharing, but let me know what you need from it.

i would greatly appreciate it if I could see the invoice. I have an aftermarket warranty & I would like to get an idea of what is involved so I don’t get any surprises before I spend any money!

thank you for you insight. Is the valve body & conductor plate considered a internal lubricated part?

It's weirdly hard to see. Look in the left hand column. $785 install, $105 flush cooler.

Freaked me out, too. I thought maybe i'd gotten ripped for $890!

Pretty sure they swim in the transmission fluid. That probably qualifies as an "internal lubricated part".
