2007 GL450 Hard Start intermittent start need help Plz

hello all just bought this 2007 Gl450, used to start up sometimes in the morning or in the day but sometimes takes like 8-12 times to crank to fire up and then runs perfect. can turn off and on no problems. Then if you go shopping or work and then go to start it up it will not fire up for 8-15 times now its getting worse and worse. I replaces the Crankshaft sensor and same thing seems worse then before now its like 12-20 times before it stars up. There is no codes on the dash or check engine codes when i scanned it. theirs a brand new battery turns over perfect. need help was reading up with some people who changed the cables but they never said if anything was resolved with the cable or anything else to get it back to normal ? what do you guys think or i should try ? it has 204,000 kms on it. check the battery under the seat the ground wire was corroded so i cleaned everything up, i tried boosting it with the original battery full of juice and still no difference its like its getting worse and longer to crank to fire up. people said the ecu and the bad ground to fuel pump ? how do i check or look for any help would be great. thanks

No one can help me on this or have any advice ???? Now that i replaced the Crankshaft sensor, it starts up when its cold and then i went to the bank and came out hard to try it like 10-12 times before it starts ? i don't know if its a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter when when it starts it drives perfect? is there a way to test out the fuel pump or fuel filter? let me know if anyone can help thanks

You haven't changed the starter? Lots of threads on here by people chasing hard start demons only to find it was the starter.

lots of people on here start taking about the problem but not one said it worked or was solved and what exactly they did. i took it got this guy thats an alternator and starter specialist he put it on his computer tester and said battery alternator and starter checked out perfect. starts over perfect no glitches or anything fires up after 8-15 tries. lots said the positive wires. but again not one on here ever said it worked or what solved the problem ? so i dont want to start changing things i dont need. its a hard thing. unless you know a tread that said it was solved ? let me know thanks

I suggest you read a little more carefully, then.

This is a tricky problem - I even had a mechanic thinking it had to be some fuel problem - because the starter still works; it just goes slow.

I believe that the reason this makes for hard starting is because (I believe) the ECU won't deliver fuel below a certain rpm. After cranking for a second or so, everything loosens up, the cranking rpm rises, and then a burst of fuel.

The starter still works. It just cranks slow, especially when warm. The only diagnostic that will show the problem is one that looks at the crank rpm. Possibly also the current flow to the starter.

I had a similar issue, replaced the starter and problem resolved.

Starter, Evap canister, fuel pressure regulator- in that order. Short answer is you either have a slow starter of vapor lock in a fuel line

ok i will do get the starter done. it seems like it turns over very strong doesnt slow down at all and yes it feels like its starving fuel, because sometime it will start for like 2 seconds then turn off and then have to try starting it about 8-12 times before it fires up again like normal. in the morning starts perfect its just when you drive to it and park it for a bit like the mall or the bank and try starting it again it doesnt want to start ? Is it better to pull the old starter out and get it rebuilt or buy a new one ? there is one brand new one from amazon a Bosch for $187.90 or not a good one to use?

or this one is better ?

or this one ?

witch one would you go with or just rebuild my old one ? should i change the positive cable also as they say that might be a problem also or just start with the starter and go from there? thanks

Also one more thing i noticed that when it doesn't start and i try starting it the 8-12 times the RPM gauge dont not move at all stays at 0 till it fires up and then it moves to 700-800 RPM while its running ? so is that a sign of anything the RPM not moving when i crank it as i seen a video on youtube they guy tried to start his over and over but the his RPM was moving ? let me know what you guys think thanks

Man, just change the frickin starter. Do more stuff if necessary. Get a decent one; they aren't expensive. I think I got an Amazon Warehouse deals "used" delivered for $100. These things are pretty simple; there's no magic pixie dust.

Read the threads here on how to do it.

I had the exact same problem on a r350 which is basically the same platform it ended up being a faulty ecu. When the motor warms up and you go to restart the motor the ecu fails to send a signal to the fuel pump. I purchased an used ecu and had it coded to the car by a local guy and no more problems.

In this case it would crank at normal speed. Starter failure is sluggish cranking. It can be difficult to tell the difference.
