Quickjack

I've been looking at them since they're on sale for Christmas. Has anybody used one on a GL? The designated jackpoints are too far apart even for the extended version. Can you lift inboard of those using the pinchweld adapter?

I have used mine on my GL550. I made my own extenders to reach that are 76".for the GL. I don't have any pictures of the GL550 on it. I bought a pair of 8' 2x6's to make mine. I cut it down to 76"'s. I took the extra wood I cut off and screwed it to the bottom of the 2x6's to drop into the quickjack jacking point trays to make sure it is stable and centered. I then attached 1/8" thick 72" angle iron on both sides of the 2x6 for extra support and strength. I lift it and then lower it on to 4 jack stands. It is pretty slick.

Here was what I used for angle iron.

If you are interested I will get you pictures of what I did. Currently my 535i is sitting on it awaiting winter tires.

That would be great if you could. I thought of a similar solution, but using the angle iron for additional support didn't occur to me.

This will give you an idea. I only have 5000lb. They sold out of the 7000lb ones when I bought it. I never support the vehicle on it but it had no problem lifting my GL550.

Thanks! I ordered a 7000 last night from Home Depot who has (had?) them on a good sale. I figured I'd get use out of it on my other two cars even if it didn't work on the GL.

Thread bump, I've registered just to ask this as I've a similar issue, I bought a 5000TLX but my Cayenne jack points are a similar distance apart to the GL (72 inches!)

My question is, how did you attach the iron to the wood? I've got all the bits, but I'm not sure drilling into the wood is great for the overall strength. Also when jacking is the whole sill sitting on the wood or do you have some small blocks I can't see under the jack points to get the sills a little higher?

Thanks in advance!

I just drilled 3 holes into the iron and ran a 1/2 inch screen into the wood. It wouldn't take much to hold them in place.

Disclaimer is do everything at your own risk, but I have used mine for weeks on end. I have changed suspension and dropped gas tank for fuel pump on mine. (requires removing exhaust and driveshaft)

I ended up getting the standard length 7000 lbs. version. It is almost long enough to use side to side (which I didn't realize was an option until I got it), but not quite. The extensions quickjack sells would have worked, but since they're not cheap and I only needed to extend the lift by 1-2" at each end so I just ended up getting two 4 x 6"s long enough to span the car. I lay them on the lift with a rubber block at each lifting point and use them to slightly extend the lift. Works well and gets the vehicle up slightly higher as a bonus. I like the quickjack quite a bit - much easier and seems safer than jacks and jackstands. Try at your own risk etc. etc.

Thanks both. I have the 5000TLX version so the same length as the regular 5000 with the extenders. I'm going to try jbweld for fixing the angle iron to the wood and see how that goes. I could only find 2 angle irons so far, so I need to find another two.

@not2fast I love that you painted it all black too.!

I have 7000 model and I use the lift kit and it work fine in my 10gl. There a jack point under the near the step footboard. No extended rail needed. Waste of money. I been using this for 8yrs now. Next time when I do the rear diff and transfer case I take some pictures

The 7000 is longer than the 5000, I needed the shorter model as the 7000 is too long to fit under my other vehicle!
