Question Excessive smoke

Could really do with some help or ideas on this one
I have a 2007 GL with 100k on the clock and i love it but it has a issue i just cant get to the bottom of.
When the engine is hot and your in traffic or just letting it idle it gets really smokey but after you have driven for a few miles it stops again .
Its white smoke so instantly thought Head gasket but thats fine .the car doesn't lose any fluids
Never had to top up the coolant and the oil is perfectly clean . It never over heats and doesent throw any codes up. The power is as it should be .
i would really appreciate any help to put a list together of all the possibilities and work my way threw it .
Thanks in advance

When you say it's smoky, do you mean out of the tailpipe?

I see your question is inquiring about a "2007 GL with 100k".
This is an automobile! This is an X164! Let me answer this before I find out you "threw it". You must have a good throwing arm... these trucks are heavy.

Begin Diagnosis:

So, far we have a "2007 GL with 100k" that has an engine in it. The engine runs. The engine smokes when at temp., but does not under load. No Codes. No power loss. No fluid leaks. Okay, spare me the details.
I think I have enough details to tell you what to check.
  1. Check if the thing in front is bad-broke. It should be doing stuff...
  2. Watch the thing in back doesn't touch the lower part... it should be fastened some, but not too much.
  3. Check your fluid when you see the place it is... That might be okay for all the stuff in the place with the other one on the left... Maybe even with the right ones on the left too.
  4. Bad "fuel".
  5. Bad upper engine thing.
  6. Too much material built up on the entire set...They should be clean...so clean them with the recommended goop from Mercedes. Don't use the other stuff from the store next to the road, it will cause damage to the metal part!
  7. Engine is broke.
  8. Short to ground in electrics.
  9. Open or Cut wire by the module.
  10. Corrosion on the pin. Right where it could get wet if it doesn't dry. This is because of the malfunctioning stuff, next to the metal on the GL.
  11. Have you tried turning it off... Then back on again?
  12. Do procedure with factory dongle.
  13. Cut off both Tailpipes to see if it changes where the smoke comes out.

Do you know this song? Here... I will play it for you. I will be clapping my hands together for melody and harmony and whistling the drum line.
If you don't want to guess the song, maybe include the type of engine you have.. is it gas or diesel? Any recent service done? What are checking for codes with?

Is it common for them to be duff etc and no codes show up.

Let's start with the basics. First, a diesel is supposed to smoke. It's only because of modern technology that they don't smoke. I own a truck company and run a mix of very old and fairly new equipment. My old CAT 3126 motors with no emissions seldom smoke. Why? Basic maintenance is the key.

1. Get yourself some fuel injector cleaner that will work with a motor designed for a low sulfur fuel motor like the Bluetech. Add it to the fuel and take the Benz on a nice long road trip on the highway.
2. If the fuel injector cleaner doesn't work, change the oil, oil filters, and fuel filter(s).
3. Add another dose of fuel injector cleaner to the tank.

Thanks for that its good advice.
The car does have full service history but its mostly by independents so its at best a mixed bag.
I think i will change all the filters/fluids just for peace of mind.
What injector cleaner do you recommend .
Thanks

Any brand that can be used in a low-sulfur fuel engine. Diesel 911 is really good.
