2009 GL450 command dash unit not turning off when exiting vehicle
Hello, hoping someone can point me to a resolution as the indi shop was not able to diagnose. After parking and turning off the car, when I open my driver side door to exit the vehicle, the car usually (should) open the locks on all 4 doors and turn off the command dash unit. However, with increasing frequency, when I open the driver side door after turning off the car, other door locks are not actuating and the command dash unit does not turn off. As a result, after exiting the vehicle, the car does not allow me to lock the doors. Only resolution is for me to get back into the car and close/open the door repeatedly until eventually, the locks on other doors actuate and the command unit turns off. Wondering if anyone had this experience and what the resolution was. Thank you in advance for any info.

I had that exact same issue. You need a new drivers door lock actuator $325 from FCP euro. Major PITA to replace but it is not messy and your not under the car. First time will take you 2 hours. After replacing 3 of them I can do it in 30 minutes. There is a good YouTube video that walks you through most of the steps. In the mean time you can shutoff the auxiliary power by pressing the start button while the key is outside the car. (Yes, I learned to deal with this same issue for way too long)
I used this video for my 2009 GL550. The only part it left out was the instructions for the lock buttons on the outside handles. You may not have them on the 450.
Good luck and let me know if you have questions. Just need a couple Torx drivers and some door panel tools. Start by lowering the drivers window 2".
I didn't bother using the plastic pins that the new actuator uses for mounting and replaced them with 3 stainless nuts and screws.
