Mercedes Gl 320 oil leak

Hello! I'm new here, just registered. Have an 08 Mercedes Gl 320, at the end of November 2023 the seals on my oil cooler were replaced when it was leaking oil. have recently discovered oil drops under the car again, it looks like it's coming from the back of the engine on the driver's side. I have a really hard time believing it's the oil cooler again, just under 2 months since the repair.... Does anyone here have any idea what this could be coming from? I checked the turbo inlet seal, this is completely broken, almost split in half....could it come from here? Can it put as much as a few drops on the floor? Hoping for some good views and ideas

It could be any of the things you mentioned - even oil cooler seals if it wasn't done quite right.

To be clear... you are saying the oil drips STOPPED after the seal repair and has now started again?

Yes, the turbo inlet seal could equal what you are seeing on the floor - depending on how much accumulates based on drive time and where/when it collects and finally drips down.

Assuming that during the seal replacement, things were wiped down nice and clean, you should have an easier time (granted it's not in a great spot to see without mirrors/inspection camera) finding the source by following the trail.

Yes, that's right, there has been no leakage after the repair of the oil cooler/seals. Now suddenly drops appear under the car again. The work was done in a workshop, it was very detailed - I got pictures of the whole process, all parts and components as well as intake egr etc were cleaned and washed. But I reckon in any case it is some form of guarantee on this job considering the short time since it was done, will check over the weekend. But... as I said, the turbo inlet seal is almost split in two in the middle.... know it's leaking oil there, but don't know how much this can leak and whether this can relate to the drops on the floor. You mention drive time, does that have anything to do with how much it leaks or am I misunderstanding? The car has recently only been used for local driving, so much start/stop and cold driving really....

Drivetime... correct, the more the car is driven, the more oil will leak out past the turbo seal. It could still be something else, of course - where oil "drops" from is not always indicative of where it started from. This is where you put your detective hat on

To Eric's question... it's hard to read what you are writing... for some reason it's showing up as a very light grey color?

What about the post I was quoting? That was in light gray too, right? That's what I was making fun of.

Oh, yes, that's actually what I was to referring, Eric... that neither you or I could easily see the text in Havrahane's post.

Ah yes.

Just because you CAN fiddle with formatting does not mean you SHOULD!
