No GL yet...but have the manual!
Downloaded the 2013 Owners manual from the MBUSA website .... have it on the iPad....have been reading ( much!) about all the various systems on the vehicle! Because of the organizational manner of the these manuals, and the complexity of some of the systems, it takes some intense studying! You guys that have your cars: what can you tell us about the "Eco" engine start/stop system and/or the "electric parking break?" These are not functions that I have on my current 2011 450. I know what the manual says about each....but that doesn't give you a good picture of reality!

Ahhhhh....ok. Too bad on the eco thing.....that system ( on other vehicles) does indeed save fuel! Glad the elec. parking brake is there!

It is unfortunate that the owners manual goes into a lot explanation of this "eco" system but it doesn't exist! Sorta gets your interest activated and then lets you down! Perhaps the physical manual that comes with the car will have been updated so as not to include that information.

I have a downloaded manual that I use. I'm not sure if I got it from the same site, but it has a distinctive British ring to some of the wording. I was thinking it's not the US manual. Perhaps you have the same one?

You probably know this, but the manual for your new GL will be loaded on the Comand system for you. They also have hard copy but I put it in the rear net area since I didn't feel I'd need it with the on-line format.

I got the PDF manual from the MBUSA site and have it installed on the iPad ....works great!!! Apparently, from what I have been able to find on this forum and the "other" MB forum is ...... the ECO thing is A. avail on all models in Europe B. available to everyone on the AMG version C. will be on all versions everywhere in 2014

OK....so in this world of "manual says this....but reality is, its not on available on the vehicle".... the manual talks about a "ventilation vent" IN the glovebox to prevent items in there from "overheating!" True or Not?

True - it is a small hockey-puck large button on the front left side fo the glove box - for both 166 ML/GL - twist to open and twist to close. Best to have it closed if you don't need it..

Yes it's true....... the COMMAND manual is a digital program available as one of the "app" programs on the "system" screen. You can also download a PDF version from the the MBUSA website.

I got my GL63 fours weeks ago. MY2013. It has Eco. Automatically set to "ON" so that once it's warmed up, it turns off the engine when you're stopped as long as the brake pedal is applied. Leave go of pedal, engine starts immediately. Feature can be disabled by pushing the button below radio. When system is on, there is a green ECO that appears in the display behind the steering wheel.
