Hopefully, Mercedes fixed the sensor issue today. They had to reprogram the offset values of the short range sensors. Mercedes just recently issued a bulletin on how to fix this issue.

is it related to the distance warning because mine goes off all the time and is very annoying and I had to disable it. I would like to have it fixed next time I take car in. Let us know if this fixes your problems.

Yes - that was it - the distance warning. I had to disable too. Will follow up if it is corrected now.

its happened to me once or twice- but seemed to be while approaching a big pole, bridge, bright light pillar/post - i felt that the sensors thought it was a moving object- its funny when you have people with you and their like 'what the heck was that?!' especially when the car in front slows to turn etc.. safe and entertaining..
but i hope you guys who are having it more frequently get the issue resolved- resetting the offset on the short sensors should do it..

Wow glad to hear I am not alone. This gets very annoying and fairly loud to if I recall. is doing it fairly regularly so looks like we need to get it checked out at the dealer...

Went into the dealership for a brake issue today and They performed the service bulletin for the sensors, so we will see if that fixes the issue.

Interestingly, they said the reason for issue was with Audis. Comfirmed with a wife and husband driving a MB and an Audi where it kept on going off

interesting that it's specific to a vehicle. Maybe that's why I haven't got it too often since we don't have a lot of Audi.

I am going in for 1st service on my GL next week, be interesting to see if they do an update for this on mine.

The Audi story seemed a little far fetched to me, but service guy said a guys wife drove an Audi and it just kept on setting it off as they frequently passed each other.

Does make you think though with all this tech - what if other cars with all their tech interfere with things like the auto cruise control or other safety features.

Please don't confuse Collision Prevention Assist short qange sensors with the long range Distronic Plus sensors - the subject here is the short range sensors - Distronic Plus by and large has been fault free for several years across GL's and other MB models,

Just got vehicle back from 10,000 mile service. I listed the false alarms as an issue and related that I had read on forums that there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) covering this. Dealer said there was no such thing. Anyone know the number of that TSB?

My distance warning beeper goes off regularly for no reason. Dealer cannot fix it. I can switch it off (only for the duration of the journey) by means of 13 annoying presses of fiddly buttons on the steering wheel.

How can it be permanently disabled? Somebody please help!

Quote: Was wondering if anyone else had experienced this, but we've been getting quite a few false distance warning lamp indications.

What I mean by that is the red lamp that lights in the instrument display and warning sound seems to go off for no apparent reason.

We noticed it more when driving up somewhat curved road - but also just on flat straight roads - with absolutely nothing in front of us or even any vehicles on the road.

Anyway - annoying enough on a recent long trip to turn the function off - particularly when it wakes up sleeping passengers (kids)!

We took it in to get looked at by the service center and they could find nothing wrong with the sensors or the systems. They actually asked if we had been turning it off and on - to which I replied yes as it was happening so frequently that I hit off in the middle of a false alert to prove to myself it was that system causing the alarm.

I'd say it has only gone off one or two times appropriately - when I have been accelerating and then overtaking it has picked up the car in front of me.

Anyway - has anyone else experienced this? Somewhat annoying and makes the feature useless - particularly when I have to turn it off

I got one the other day for no apparent reason. It was at night in a city with no one in front of me or around me. I floored it to see the pickup and it freaked out and put the warning light on and beeped. Scared me half to death so I slowed down. Only got to 40 max. Then I wondered if it did it because I was speeding up. Who knows.

Mine does this all the time driving in town with a totally clear road ahead - ok there is stuff to the left and right, but it's totally wrong.

I'm contacting the dealer to discuss short range offsets as discussed above, does anyone have any more information about tech bulletin or anything?

I'm a lot more likely to have a crash trying to disable the thing after it's gone off for the first time each journey! How does that work, it's not my fault officer / judge / claims department, I was trying to turn off the annoying beep when I crashed!

I spoke to the dealer - they are going to look into it and call me back, but the Tech did agree that it's annoying.

Anyway to spur them on I told him I was fed up with cars being annoying and would have two attempts to resolve the issue and then I would reject the vehicle - it's the only way they'll learn.

I had this issue and they fixed it.

Funny - yesterday when driving a car stopped hard up ahead to turn right while we were doing about 55 and it went off - perfect - it worked!

Do you have any idea what they did? In my experience dealers don't really learn from each other and unless there is a service bulletin I'll just get ignored

I believe there is a service bulletin - sorry I don't have it.

We had the service bulletin worked completed back around June, which corrected the issue. But, now the issue is happening again. Have our 20,000 mile maintenance scheduled for Monday, so will have them look at this issue again. Sure is annoying.

New to the forum here guys. Im a 10 year master benz tech so hopefully I can be of help here. This has been a very common issue with any of the new cars having CPA. We have had some module issues where the replacement of them has helped. The update is new software for the CPA module which will change the parameters of the system monitoring and hopefully be a little less sensitive.

Maybe mstrbenztech can comment on the intelligent headlamp minimum speed being 35mph in 2013 and thankfully reduced to under 20mph in 2014. Any chance that 2013 systems will be updated to something that is useable when not on the main roads??? Tired of switching the light control manually when I get off the main roads. Sorry to hijack this thread with something other than those false beeps. I am just hoping that I can bring mine to service to get both updated at once.

Just an update guys, there is a TSB that came out last month for an updated module. From what they are saying, the original module is pointed too far left where its mounted and this is what is sometimes causing the activation. The new one has to be clipped in a certain way so its mounted correctly. Let me know if anyone goes to the dealer for this
