Illuminated Star for the X166 GL.

Too bad it's not for GLs with distronic / distronic plus. I wish it was. I like the illuminated star.

only works when parked, does not engage when your in drive.

Now, if the STAR would pop out and shine into the corners when putting on turn signals and making those sharp turns, it might be considered to be of some value.

Yep, as said above, the glowing STAR would become some BAD Boys collectors item. It would have to fold away in a secure place or it would certainly go bye-bye.

Yes, it DOES NOT FIT a GL with Distronic, the module is mounted behind the star and will not allow LED star to seat all the way in!
It doesn't appear that the module can be moved or relocated. Too bad....

No, the back of the star is thin plastic. Unlike the original star which is very slim the led star is deep. I need to take a closer look at the module to see if I can move it down on the support in front of the radiator.

keep posted I hate the lighted stars but would still like to know about adding to a Distronic car

Called dealer to confirm and they said it will not fit on a GL with Distronic and would "block" the radar detector!
"Block"? really, how??? Maybe interfere with the signal???

Was wondering about this too, but if it blocks distronic it's no good.

Was considering replacing the star with a ARB intensity IQ led light

Irrespective of the distronic, does anyone know if it would fit?

Dimensions (mm) 220mm (width) x 215mm (height) x 142mm (depth)

I figured this. I tried to install the LED star, but it wouldn't fit. The distronic box is behind the star. Dealer warned that it may cause interference with the distronic. Not taking the chance; sent it back.
