Mine came with Continental CrossContact UHP and on the side wall it shows M + S so I presume it's all season? Tirerack seems to indicate that this is summer tire only. By the way, this is US model.

Thanks!

Same here. Wife has about 800 miles on them. Glad to have the all season.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I know we still have several months to worry about this but are you planning to run winter tires with you GL?

We'll try the Continentals this winter. I have a set of summer tires on my BMW 550 and change them out for all season tires during the winter. We are in Oklahoma and don't encounter too many harsh winters.

I have those on my gl and live where there is a lot of snow and cold. I would recommend better (read winter) tires for winter. The contis are a bit slick in that massive size. I've said in other posts they tend to be like toboggans in snow.

I got some Pirelli ice and snow for winter in 19s for the GL. Much better.

Now having said all of that, it really depends on how harsh your winters are. The conti may be fine for you with your winters but they a definitely more of a summer tire.

gl550
Sometimes Mercedes seems like they are going in two directions at once. On direction is like Volvo and the other is like Lexus. All this massive safety tech which is why I buy these and these anomalies like tires. I live in phoenix and own a gl550 and an ml bluetec. For those not familiar with the area, Flagstaff, at nearly 8000 ft is less than 2 hours away. No one in their right mind would drive those conti's on icy roads in 20 degree f, which is common there in the winter. Which means for me that Pirelli scorpions are my only option. I can get a 7k b and o stereo upgrade, can some one tell me why I can't get a full size spare for a tire that takes a week to come in if you need one?
