Its interesting.... couple years back when the 2006 ML came out it had the 302 hp V8 than in 2007 or 2008 ( 1-2 year after launch) they switched over to the 382 hp engine... thats what I think might happen with the 2014-2015 MY GL

Ordered a 2014 GL350 in late March. Received notice Monday that the GL has been produced, it's currently at the Vehicle Prep Center and I will be notified with a tentative arrival date to the dealer. Any thoughts on how long it takes to cleat VPC and arrive at dealer?

My MY14 GL is apparently 'on order' but I don't have any other info. I believe it's expected late this CY.
The headrest discussion suggests that Easy Entry is no longer in the package P1.
How do I know what I really ordered? I want Easy Entry. If I ask for the order, will it show what's included in the pkgs or do I need to ask for additional info?

2014 GL350
I had to follow up with the dealer. Originally, they changed my order to include the easy entry as a separate item, but I had them make sure to remove it since it sounds like it just isn't that well thought out.

I have a GL450 on order to be built Aug 26, it had the Easy Entry listed as a separate $400 option in addition to the reduced price P01 package.
I contacted them today to see if it can be removed from the order as we really don't need it and would prefer more comfortable 2nd row headrests. They are having to get someone at MB corporate involved to try and get my order changed.

I couldnt see P02 as an option in the ordering guide in the previous page. Did they get rid of P02? The MBUSA website still makes it available. I wonder if the website is not the correct ordering guide?

Yes, they got rid of P02. Its only P01 now. Also P01 listed in the previous page is accurate, except Easy Entry is not part of it anymore. Easy Entry is a separate $400 option.

Yes, GL550's and GL350's are being about 90%+ pre-sold before they hit the ground... very limited availability.. the fact is as compared to the competition (regardless of retail) are respective "kings of the road"..

What it doesn't show is the special order features like On/off Road and Active Curve. But it does show the new colors, and expanded trim options. It shows Power Entry as a separate option and not included in P1.

The description for the Panorama roof says:"Offering sweeping skyward views to 1st- and 2nd-row passengers, this fully functional glass sunroof features a front panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide over the rear panel for an open-air feeling. Dual interior power shades allow occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin."Anyone have power shades?

2014 GL config is up on MBUSA
I was messing around with the build site and found that the for the GL Bluetec Lane Tracking Package includes - ACTIVE blind spot assist anyone else see this. Then I went to the GL450 build and the same Lane Tracking Pack says only Blind spot assist?
Anyone have an idea if they are including ACTIVE blindspot in the lane tracking pack for 2014 - or just an error on the website.
Also the rear sunshades are not special order now, found out b/c I was not charged the extra $250 on my order.

My 2014 GL450 has power shades but only on the first two panels. The panel over the third row still doesn't have a shade. The shade is sheer so you can just barely see through it. I am taking it in a few weeks to get 3M Crystalline on the front door windows, windshield, and all three sunroof panels. I am also going to put Xpel Ultimate paint protection film for full front coverage to save it from road rash.

Let me make a coupel general comments on recent posts:
1) If you want to order a 2014 GL350BT for delivery for before Dec 31 delivery - it is best to fnd a dealer that has a confirmed changeable production slot - currently allocated out thru mid-October production - and those #'s overall are very-very-very limited nationwide. No dealer can predict with any accuracy at all if they will pick up any "added allocation" for production thru mid-Oct - and most likely not - and no dealer can predict how many additional units will be allocated to them for mid-Oct thru mid-Dec production. Those are the hard facts.
2) Same scenario for GL550 as the scenario for GL350BT
3) The total # of GL450's are higher - but consider the GL450 limited availability.
Remember - until you have factory PO in hand - and your dealer can print out a confirming spec sheet for you with that PO# in the upper right hand corner - then your GL is not a true factory order.
For scheduled production date - and ultimately confirmed production date - your dealer can print out a copy of the NetStar "VII screen" for that PO# to give you with the exact factory information available at that point.
Just to be clear - confirming paper talks - if you request that confirming paper - then you are talking smoke and mirros.
Keep the beat !

GL550 Easy Entry and Auburn seats
Two things:
1. On the build of the GL550, it says that Easy Entry is included:
2. On the build, the Auburn/Black doesn't look two toned like it did in early leather picks. It's all the darker color (which I prefer). If anyone gets the MY14 GL550 in Auburn/Black, can you confirm?
1. On the build of the GL550, it says that Easy Entry is included:
"60/40-split 2nd-row seats with EASY-ENTRY
Standard
With more than 38 inches of legroom, the spacious 2nd-row seating offers generous space for three passengers. The seats recline to 10 positions or fold flat in seconds in a 60/40-split, for flexible cargo space as well. An EASY-ENTRY feature on both sides eases 3rd-row access from either the right or left rear door.
So I shouldn't have to pay the fee? The build though does show it as a selectable option for $400.Standard
