Prepaid Service Program Contract for GL 350

Owners: can some one educate me on this topic as reading some of the threads addressing this I am unable to verify if this is advisable or not.
My 2014 GL 350 in Cinnabar metallic with gray leather interior is at the dealership and will be delivered this Monday.

Are you asking if you should get the prepaid service on your GL 350? My dealer told me if I got the 3 year that it would end up saving me about $150. We'll see. I did end up getting the 3 year and the diesels are more expensive so the package was more than he originally thought. Have already put 2,500 miles in 1 month so that 10,000 mile service will be here before I know it...

A gaggle of MB's
The cost of MB brand "AdBlue" - even on prepaid maintenance - is a rip as compared to DIY top off with DEF (diesel exhaust fluid)

If you just DIY on the DEF you will save just as much paying as you go....Great car BTW. We love our 350.

I was told by the sales consultant that there isnt much savings with a gasser but with the 350 you save 30-40% by buying prepaid program.
Comments from those who are in the know??

Since dealer service costs vary from dealer to dealer - the most prudent course is to speak to the service dept 1st to get 10K/20K/30K service cost based on those 3 service intervals - then compare that total to 30K prepaid service costs - prepaid protects against future service cost increases as well as out-of-area higher service cost if traveling.

Definitely check on the costs of the Service A, B and C. It may well save you money by pre-paying. I know it would have for us on our '08 GL 320 as service runs pretty darn high.

All of the Loves Truck Stops have DEF Stations at $2.69/gal. Not sure if nozzle fits our tanks or not but I'll find out.

I actually topped off my Adblue (DEF) at about 6k out of curiosity and it did not take as much fluid as I expected. About 3 gallons total as I recall.

Then when I took my car in for the 10k service I told them not to fill the DEF but the SA said it was only top off and very inexpensive, stated something about $10. Maybe he was quoting $/gal!

When I got the bill the DEF was $45.0. Since I had already filled it up at 6k miles it had only consumed 4k miles, perhaps 2 gals or so, but they don't say how much DEF was added.

Unfortunately I left with my car prior to reviewing the bill completely so doubt I will complain over $45.0, but you can definitely save a pretty penny DIY.

Most MB owners probably don't care that much and will just pay MB to service their cars.
