check out the pics on this 550
no pano roof yet it has the button for the rear windows
so maybe this is not related to pano roof at all....

That's a 2013... this issue is with the 2014s. Mine also BTW didn't get the button/power quarter windows. Salesperson assured me during the ordering process that it was standard when I specifically asked about it. Pretty annoying.

According to this website the power rear quarter window vents are standard in the 2014.
http://www.carsdirect.com/2014/merce...-bluetec/specs
I got them in mine and they were not "ordered".

My SA couldn't locate 848(power rear quarter window vents). So he cannot add it. I didn't order Pano roof.

MBUSA replied saying that the 848 option is not available for ordering on MY 2014. So if you don't want Panorama roof, you're out of luck.
"For the 2014 GL-Class the rear power windows are no longer standard, and are automatically added with the Panorama Sunroof option."

What the *EFF* is wrong with Mercedes Benz? Why did they take away a useful standard option from MY13 and put it as part of Panorama roof? And this is on top of the price increase for MY14. Jeez, Meredes trying to nickel and dime its customers on an 80K vehicle! I am lost for words! Who on earth come up with these great decisions at MB?
I don't what good it will do, I will be sending an email to MB corporate. I encourage everyone on this forum to do the same.

Shouldn't newer model have more features and functions?
Quite disappointed given MY14 has higher MSRP. Even worse is no annoucement of all these changes.

So it looks like for my14...... No power quarter windows unless you order the pano roof, no headlight washer system period, can't order the lighted running boards unless you order the "appearance package" which gives you the 20" wheels which you might not want.........think I'll be keeping the MY13 for quite a while if they don't go back to more of a " customer oriented " ordering plan! ..... And.....why did they eliminate the headlight washers??? Must be they don't drive much in the slushy winter of the Northeast!

This isn't good. It's one thing if you can go see the vehicle on the lot and make decisions that way, but given that most people need to order their vehicles, it's not good to get surprised when your vehicle finally arrives.
Do I have it right that the choice is either non-opening windows or power windows? I agree with Blittle, I like using them to acclimate the car to the outside. I did it just yesterday when I wanted some of the nice brisk morning air to come into the car, but not get too cold or windy.

that is really unfortunate and strange. usually, people (like me) regret not waiting for the new model year when things start becoming standard or new options are added ... like the heated/cooled cupholders
to remove items that have been there for years in a new model year (especially only one year into the X166's life cycle) seems like a brutal cost cutting measure. it seems like the list keeps growing , which is really a shame.
i actually had a MY14 550 on order for August delivery and decided to jump into a new MY13 550 in May that my dealer had inbound ( unclaimed), and had what i wanted and a few little extras. i am glad i did because of the significant increase in MSRP and loss of features.
it shouldn't be up to the customer to go through the list of features with a fine toothed comb, but unfortunately the salespeople don't have a clue most of the time.

Does it still have the square spots on the bumper or is it smooth? I saw a picture of a CLA on my dealer's website and I noticed it had headlight washers. Pretty surprising for a vehicle in that class.

That's at least one good thing.....I thought I looked at the MY14 ordering guide from MB and could not find the running boards as a stand alone.

heated cooled cupholders
One feature that I found on my car that I didn't even know about was the heated cooled cupholders. I would have much rather been able to open the rear quarter windows than heat or cool my drink!!!!!
MB spent more money on stupid features like that and cheaped out on important features like ventilation. Frustrating.
More annoying is that when I asked the salesman when I picked up the car, he told me the button for the heated/cooled drink holder was just "ambiance lighting" to change between blue or red!!!!!!! Geez these guys just don't know their own product.
