GL550 exhaust tip style?
Hi guys,

I noticed that on the official MBUSA website (under "Build"), the 2014 GL550 now has the same looking quad exhaust tips as the GL63 AMG.

Does anyone know if this is correct or is it simply because the web designers are not doing their job properly?

Very much interested in changing my GL550 tips with the AMG ones.
Actually, that kit is no more available from ebay(gonwalt).
Does anyone knows the parts which are needed for this conversion .

Thanks Fabbrisd1! for reply,
apparently, there is no listing on ebay for knockoff tailpipes which can fit x166. I'm ready to buy the OEM if i can find out the part numbers. From the pictures it seems that lower valance (Chrome molding underneath bumper) will also need to be changed?
Any inputs will be highly appreciated!!!

1) Email the eBay/China seller and ask about the down spoiler - frankly I don't know the China shipping cost for that

When you say ask for W166, does this means the W166 exhaust tips are similar to X166?
If so, I can then try to locate the AMG part numbers of W166?

Just asked for quotation from Mercteil. Its listed for $1021.
A chinese supplier(Alibaba) quoted the same for $500 shipped, not sure about the quality though. Here is the pic from Alibaba:

If we can find out the part numbers we can just probably source it from online US retailers cheaper?

I got a quote from MB dealership but they didn't give me part numbers. $3,400 with installation included.

My dealership just said the tail pipe covers are:

166 490 1827
166 490 2127

The dealer also said the center piece is
166 880 0671 - but I can't even find that part number in the system!

Now i'm even more confused=)

Your dealership provided you part numbers for GL550. This was done to me also at one of my local dealership and when we received the parts they were the same tail pipes which are already installed on GL550.

Then the guy at another dealership, entered an 2013 GL63AMG VIN and identified the Tailpipe/Trim part numbers.
So these are the Part numbers which showed up after entering 2013 GL63AMG VIN:
TRIM COVER, LEFT
Part Number: 166-490-15-27

TRIM COVER, RIGHT
Part Number: 166-490-16-27

LOWER COVER
Part Number: 166-885-69-25

That looks good, thanks for paying that.

We need to find out that part number for the black plastic pieces looks like that is used to mount the exhaust tips.

You can pickup at your airport is what I think that is. I did that once with a body kit. So maybe SFO or lax they ship it there and you go and pick it up.

$500 to home is insane, I shipped a coilover kit from China for $250 to my door and it was huge/heavy. Much bigger than this.

Well, i got the parts just now. Removed the Tail pipes and all the nuts holding diffuser.
Still, the diffuser will not come out. seems something simple which i need to do.
Any info will be appreciated.
Is there anyway we can find factory diagram of installing diffuser (or maybe bumper removal) on GL63
