MB Apps painfully slow

I got a notice that there were some new apps added to mbrace2. Real time traffic cameras interested me so I proceeded to click on the apps icon on Command while driving this morning. My drive took 20 minutes to my destination. The connectivity/network symbol showed 2-3 bars throughout the ride ... and the apps still hadn't downloaded!

How can MB have these features and couple them with such a poor data network? Ridiculous.

Total garbage. Like the internet of the 1992 or worse due to better expectations. :-)

Car companies need to get out of the app business and start integrating your smart-phone into the cars display. Apple will be releasing an update called "iOS in the Car":

I don't know if any MB car will soon support this feature.

Another technique is a technology called Mirrorlink, which essentially lets an automobile screen display visual information from your smartphone - wirelessly. To me that's the future, keeps the technology in the cellphone and have the automobile just be an alternate display.

The only problem with having the system be completely dependent on your smartphone is those times (rare at best, but it happens) where you forget to put your phone in your pocket. Just a thought...

Strange, I never received a notice. I even asked the service department today and he had no clue what I was talking about. I don't have any traffic cameras, only the Facebook app, and the others it came with. But they are SLOOOOWWW. Not worth it.

Exactly…..with the smartphone and tablet technology out there, all the car companies need to do is provide the tech to do the hookup. Far more efficient, and….one would assume…..profitable. The in-car app stuff certainly can't be paying off for MB.
