Thinking of ordering this GL350 Build. What do you all think?

After considering pre-owned options briefly, I am inclining towards ordering a new build of GL350BT. We haven't finalized the colors yet. Any suggestions on these choices??

2014 GL350 BLUETEC
Black OR Polar White
Almond Beige/Black Leather OR Auburn Brown/Black Leather
Trim: Brown Satin Ash Wood
20-inch twin 5-spoke wheels

Panorama roof
Premium 1 Package
Heated steering wheel
Harman/kardon sound system
Rear Seat Entertainment system pre-wiring
KEYLESS-GO
Rear side-window sunshades

Lane Tracking Package
Parking Assist Package

Accessories
Wheel Locks
Cargo area tray
mbrace Package

$75,920

Now if I can find a good deal on this.

Lighting package is a must have for night driving in anything but completely urban settings.

A cheap addition, but well worth it in terms of looks is the wrapped lower dash.

If you have non-car seat kids in the back, or drive with couples the heated rear seats are a nice add. We do a lot of couples trips with the men in the front and women in the back, and they are a lot more content with warm butts along with the guys.

Next consideration since you are going leather, and I think you are in St. Louis (my wife is from Collinsville, Il) is ventilated front seats. It just circulates cabin air but I like it on the warm humid days.

Another favorite option of mine is Distronic - I think that's in the driver's assist package?

I know what you are thinking , I've just given you options that take the vehicle into the 80's, but you asked.

Agree on lighting package and heated rear seat. Have never used distronics but have a gl on order with distronics based on lots of positive recos here. Did order ventilated seats too again a first for us.

X3 on the lighting pkg. Illuminated running boards cosmetically help, especially with 20" wheels. Also, if you ever remotely considered towing anything (be a shame if you didn't with that awesome diesel) then go ahead and get the tow hitch.

When I started building it, my goal was to keep it close to 75K MSRP. With luxury vehicles, there is no end to options and customizations. When I got my last Z4, I optioned it to the hilt and some of those I never used. Getting a 6- disc DVD changer that can be played only when parked in a 2 seat convertible was not a smart idea.

Our son is in child seat and will need it for next few years. I personanly hate tech nannies but because this is my wife's primary ride, I am going to get Lane and Parking assist. I rarely and she never uses cruise hence Distronic will be waste for us.

I will reconsider lighting package as everyone seems to recommend it. What do you all think about following combo

Exterior- Black
Interior - Almond Beige/Black Leather AND Brown Satin Ash Wood

Would 'Burl walnut' look better than 'Brown Satin Ash Wood' with 'Almond Beige/Black' Leather??

Thanks

Just a note, the light leather will mark with dark blue jeans. It's removable, but my old macadamia leather marked.

This is a very subjective question, but have you thought about anthracite poplar in that color combo? I think that would be very sharp, just a thought.

+1 - I had an E550 as a company car a few years back that I found thru a dealer locate. It had the exact build and options I wanted at the time with the only exception being it had the Black Ash wood trim I didn't think I wanted (nearly identical to Anthracite Poplar). I ended up going with it so I didn't have to wait for a custom order. Subjective, as Jim said, but I thought it was stunning in person. Liked it so much I ordered my GL with the Anthracite Poplar.

So I just got a reply from SA from a Truecar approved dealer. He stated that Invoice = 94.5 % of (MSRP - $ 925 Transportation charge) and he will offer me at Invoice + $1750.

Is this correct and is this a good deal??

The lighting package is a MUST in my opinion….safety, practicality…its a biggie! The new histrionic plus is right there also…..simply amazing1 Your color combo sounds perfect…! That combo was one of the two that I configured when I was ordering mine…..the satin ash wood really says "this is wood!" Everybody who sees in combo with my black leather really likes it!
