Just wondering which company you went with and how you like it.

Also what kind of MPGs you guys getting when you are not mashing the throttle?

I'm curious to know how the dealer feels about the tune. I'd like to get ours tuned, but my wife would kill me if something broke and the dealer refused warranty because of the tune. I'll probably wait until I need the extra power, but damn it is tempting.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty -- Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty. Most states have warranty statutes, as well. Which provide further protections for vehicle owners.

In other words, that means a dealer can't wiggle out of his legal warranty obligation merely because you install aftermarket equipment. To find out if any aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warranty, check the owner's manual. It is likely the language you are looking for appears under a heading such as "What Is Not Covered". Although the language seems negative, remember your vehicle manufacturer is simply saying he does not cover the aftermarket products themselves. He is not saying that the products would void the vehicle warranty.

After talking to Jeremy from OE Tuning I'm probably going to go with them. Also going to add straight pipes as well. The power gains are phenomenal.

Same engine in the ML450.

The GL450 produces 362 hp, while the ML550 produces 402 hp, even though they have the same engine (I understand so does the GL550). Can the dealer simply program the ECU on the GL450 to produce the ML550 power?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have very little knowledge of ECU tunes, and you're my only source of knowledge for this.

some dealers perform tunes, i.e from rentech, but MB officially does not retune vehicles to offer more power. the GL450/550 and ML550/CLS550,E550,S550 all have the same engine but different ECU programming. The magic of ECU tunes is that Mercedes can produce the same engine for over a decade but make big hp/lb-tq and even fuel economy increases by doing nothing more than fiddling with the ECU, of course there is a safe limit until things go kabom.

The GL450 with a tune will go beyond ML550 powers. We are talking 500hp/600TQ with just the ECU Flash. Of course the ML550 with the tune will equal it out. =]
