Brake rotor wobble! UPDATE
Now its my turn…..after almost 23K on the meter, I finally am experiencing the pulsating/grind sort of thing! It goes in to the shop on Thursday…. SA already said, "sounds like we will be replacing pads and rotors" I know many on here have been through this at at way less mileage….wondering how they will treat my situation…"normal wear" or perhaps a partial warranty coverage? We will see…..

"Technically" rotor/pad replacement after 16K is based on "goodwill" - administered by the servicing MB dealer out their annualized goodwill budget allowed by MB..
"Most" dealers are aware of the rotor issue - Mercedes has had 2-3 disc/pads parts "updates" (more like running changes) and "most" dealers have the budget and the smarts to address the issue correspondingly.
That said - my personal opinion - at 23K miles front pads could be due.. with "updated" pads 2nd round should last longer ..

appears to be only front….. and…… there was no hint of if developing. the vehicle sat unused for a few days….and boom, there it is; the kind of sensation and sound that some of the guys have been describing for quite some time. Off to the shop tomorrow ….. we will see what's up. Also….having a transfer case oil leak taken care of.

Well…..it was the front, they replaced both rotors and pads, and, since the TSB on the subject also says the tech "may also replace the brakelines" he did those as well! …..all under warranty! They also replaced several seals related to the transfer case….apparently a known issue relative to leaks ( I was showing some spots on the driveway ) All finished and running smoothly……. I REALLY appreciate Mercedes Benz of Lancaster, PA.

This is nice. But I'm curious. Are the supposed newer versions being installed now at the factory on 2014+ models? Or only as warranty work once the originals warp? I realize this might be hard to know for sure, but I just want to know if I need to be ready for this issue down the road.

I have the 13' ML550 with 22k miles. I'm on my third set of front rotors, the current ones have been good since 13,500 miles. I use the paddle shifters to engine brake nearly every time I stop since I'm paranoid about them warping again, so who knows if they're actually improved... The dealer just replaced my rear rotors under warranty. Took two trips though, as soon as I got home I looked at them and realized that they put on rotors from the 350...(smaller and no cross drilling.) Irritating but somewhat understandable considering how few 550's they see compared to 350's.

My 10/14 MY14 GL550 with 15k miles has a vibration at normal braking so it's going in Tuesday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a productive trip.
It's my first time in service beyond fluids.

If they are a "customer oriented" dealership.... it should be productive....let us know the verdict. I am somewhat amazed that they are still having brake issues with MY14...since they knew of the issues beginning with the the 13's.

All well and good that they are replacing stuff and making things "right"...but what I would like to hear is that they have "solved the problem" and that " your replacement rotors are not the same as the defective ones we pulled off!" I still don't think guys with 14's should be facing the issue at all when it was a well known and, thankfully, dealt with issue for the 13's!

My brakes and rotors were replaced under warranty today. I simply left the car there with the complaint of vibration and they reported the replacement. Mine is a Oct MY14.
I agree it would be nice to know that they have identified and fixed the root cause.
