Engineering hidden command menu
Hello to everyone! We have a US 2012 Mercedes GL. We just moved to Europe and we need to access the engineering hidden comand menu in order to change the zone so that command can be able to read the DVD European maps. A friend was able to do it but with another type of Mercedes (I know that once I get to the engineering menu and change the zone I will need to buy the CD/DVD containing the European maps and also to obtain from Mercedes the license key that command will ask me but I am one step behind that since I am enable to get to the hidden menu). I will mostly appreciate any tips to access the command hidden engineering menu! Huge Thanks!!!

To get to the engineering menu on the W212 you press buttons [hang up] + [#] + [1] simultaneously and hold them for approx. 10 seconds, the engineering menu will show up.

You can change everything from the way the clock looks to your DVD region.

Take a look at the link. Screen shots are from an ML350, but the GL screens are very similar.

If you want to get "into" it at this moment check MidCity Engineering - then check DVDInMotion - then check the "newest" eBay guy from Belarus with his By-Pass/Unlock-feature-cable... other than MidCity - for the two other guys best not to "believe" all that they claim to be...

Tested almost everything on it. Got the ABC and on-off road to work, I think ABC is cooler.

Clock also can be changed.

Dynamic seats don't work, as my 2014 GL550 doesn't have it. Also, night vision won't miraculously appear :-(

I turned on gracenote, don't know if it works or not yet.

That's about it. Apparently the sport suspension makes the car go -1 on the scale of 0 to 3 in the on&off Road screen.
