We just spotted the new Mercedes GLE Coupe undergoing its initial winter testing without much camouflage, and it sure looks like she'll take the fight to BMW and their X6.

Perhaps they are trying to bump the X6 out of first place on Car and Driver's ugliest cars list. I don't like the Panamera but I can appreciate it. I can't even appreciate the X6.

I suspect the marketing plan is this: Don't try to target the entire market when 30% of potential customers sort of like your "safe" potential concept, 30% hate it, and the other 40% are pretty indifferent. Why bother trying to sway all those folks with marketing dollars? Instead simply target the 10% that simply LOVE it and expressly design it for that core target and price accordingly.
This works especially well when your market share is <5% anyway.

Couldn't agree more
As if the X6 wasn't disparaged enough by the auto-journos, MB felt compelled to follow suit. Why would anyone choose that odd-looking 'egg' when there are far better-looking products on either side of the fence (GLA, ML) is beyond me.
