Stuck between two offers. Which ones best?

I've been shopping for a 2015 GL350 for over a month now. I have two dealers competing against one another. One dealer is part of a larger Mercedes franchise. The other is a small family owned Mercedes dealership. The larger Mercedes dealer has offered me $10,000 off of a 2015 GL350 black with tan interior, and $16,000 for my trade (2008 Mercedes R class). The family owned dealer has offered me $8,000 off a 2015 GL350 black with black interior, only $15,000 for my trade. but they are willing to add a 2 year extended warranty after the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty ends. I'm conflicted to which offer to accept. Take the $3,000 savings up front or will the warranty be of more value. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are as to which offer seems the better of the two. Any thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks!

No two different MSRP's. First one only has a Premium package. Black with tan MB-Tex interior and Eucalyptus Wood Trim. MSRP is $69,510. Dealer offering $10,000 off and $16,000 for my trade.
Second GL has the premium package, Harmon Kardon, Lane tracking package, heated steering wheel. Black with a black MB-Tex interior and Anthracite Poplar Wood. MSRP $72,215. Dealer offering $8,000 off and $15,000 for my trade with a 2 year extended warranty.

Forgot to mention the $69,510 GL does not have the Power Easy Entry second row seats but the $72,215 GL does. Not sure how I feel about having that option or not. I have three kids really not sure how that option would affect them due to the headrest issue. I had all three kids sit in the second row with the optional easy entry and it didn't seem to affect them but it may as they grow. Maybe they were all at the right height to not be affected but that could change. It was hard to tell. It seem to depend on the angle of the reclining position of the seat and how it hit the back of a child and an adults head and shoulder area.

The deals seems comparable, I think the extended warranty bundle isn't worth $26K, but it's in the ballpark. Do you intend to keep the vehicle for 6 years? Based upon your R it seems like you would.

I assume you are agreeable with the trade value?

How about the options? Any you are missing that you'd like/demand on one versus the other? If you do any non-city, night driving you will get a strong recommendation here to get the lighting package. I actually think the plain jane is probably not as attractive to the typical buyer, so might be why they are discounting heavier.

As you can tell, my recommendation is don't use the 'better deal' answer in which to choose, pick the one you are most comfortable with, the dealer you like best, etc.

Agree with JimB..........get the lighting package. A vehicle of this stature and price should come with bi-xenons standard but MB makes it an option on way too many of their vehicles. Most owners regret not getting the lighting pkg. Drive both at night and you'll clearly see the difference!

Find out how many miles they are willing to give you on the extended warranty. Both years and miles determine warranty cost.

I wouldn't buy the gl without the premium package.

So GL #1 gives you a discount of ~14%
GL #2 gives you a discount of ~11%

That 14% is a solid deal just looking at the numbers. But my suggestion is if you're buying this car and keeping for couple of years go with the slightly better packaged GL, it's better in the long run. However, try to drive the dealer down on the price. Because between the two prices paid, you're looking at a difference of $6k.

I've tried to work the second dealer to a better price. You're right it is a $6k difference. Deal #2 stated that's the lowest they can go, thats why I put an extended warranty on the table. I'm hoping to close that $6K difference in my mind with a $3k warranty. Leaving the gap at a $3K difference which is really the cost of the option between the two. I'd be fine with that. I really wish dealer 2 would just match dealer 1's pricing but they can't and wont. If I take deal 2 at a higher price but with the warranty its still going to cost me more in interest though out the length of the loan so that has be wondering also. I have to admit I like dealer 2's GL with the black interior. Not a huge fan of a tan interior with 3 kids but for a $6K saving is it worth it? I'm really struggling with the great deal verses paying more even though I prefer the color and options. Is it really worth $6k?

Can the first dealer do a swap and get that other GL?

I don't have any experience about extended warranty in store or online, so I can't comment on that.

No I questioned that and was hoping they could. The dealer would be able to swap with another Mercedes dealerships owned by the same company (mileone). Sadly nothing optioned out in the mileone dealer network similar to the one the other dealership had. The dealer with the not so great pricing is a small family owned dealer. They don't swap cars with the larger Mercedes dealers. They also told me that since they are a small family owned dealership they can't compete with the larger Mercedes dealerships when it comes to pricing discounts.

I have the tan interior, have kids but I know how to clean leather seats and I bought a complete set of tan colored WeatherTech mats.

The extra $6k, use it for a possible wheel upgrade.

Good point

How has the tan interior held up with the kids? I have a black interior now and it hides everything. I can only imagine how dirty it really is. Also do you have the power easy second row seat? any issues with the headrest and the kids. That's if you have that option? If you don't have the power seat how easy is the manual seat to use on a daily bases?

I didn't know dealers were offering such large discounts on the 350's?

I'd always heard that on the bluets be happy if you get any discount at all.

At least that's how it was when I bought ours 18 months ago. Is it different now?

Well, we all wear jeans. The blue dye is rubbing off onto the seats a little, when it gets severe I have the Maguiar's leather wipes that do the job nicely. We have the power 2nd row folding passenger side seats (2012 model side handle, not the 2013 "top button"). Though not as "powered" as we'd like, my boys (15 and 12) have a good handle on it for school carpools.

Before we purchased, we borrowed a 2013 GL from Hertz, the non-powered folding seat was a pain and kinda heavy.
