plz help me in making a Decision

i am in the process of negotiating my first ever MB GL450 2015 DEAL
Dealer is offering me 4K$ Below MSRP and additional 2000$ Fleet discount, I am ordering the vehicle which will be here as per the dealer in 8 weeks

I am confused is it a good deal?
MSRP for vehicle is 76K approx

I am confused whether to proceed with this deal or wait for 2016 model? can we get similar discounts on 2016 Models? is it worth the wait?

plz advise,

A gaggle of MB's
It's your decision - but historically, both dealer discounts and "fleet" discount are less in the Fall for the 1st months of new model year...

please post up the build sheet of how you are looking to equip the truck - i learned a lot on here before ordering.

i played 3 dealerships against each other here, but CA seems to be a bit tougher and i was ordering a BT which made it tricky, but i was happy at 1k over invoice - all depends on your comfort level

and 8 weeks till delivery? lucky - i had to wait 90+ days

Everything we've been able to surmise would say GLS will be 2016 model year (availability later this year) and will be a refresh. However there is conflicting information that would say 2017 model year refresh (availability later next year).

If you are ordering, these are some of the most common and cheaper adds:
Special order lower wrapped dash
Special order heated windshield wash (if cold climate)
Heated wheel and back seats (if cold climate)
Trailer hitch (even if you only would put a bike rack on it's a lot cheaper than afterwards)

Easy entry seats you should read the most common post on this forum to decide for yourself. They can cause major problems with kids/small adults

Of course there's a lot of technology adds (distronic, parktronic, off road package, active blind sopt, etc, etc). None of these are cheap, but most are impressed with each of them.

Thanks alot
i will check with the dealer ,
after reading about power easy entry , i am seriously thinking not to go with that

typically seeing the history when mercedes announced GL in last couple of years? and when customers were able to order?

I suggest to get blind spot assist. I wouldn't buy GL without it. Very helpful feature, especially for such a big car like GL.
Also, if you want to save some money
1. Pre-Wiring for Rear DVD - order it only if you have in mind to install factory
rear DVD later on. If it's not going to be OEM or it will be Ipads - prewiring is
a waste of money.
2. Panorama roof option cost $1K. I own 4th car with panorama roof and never
open it. I think it's a matter of personal taste, but I would not order it if I'd
like to save some money.
3. Trailer Hitch - agree with Jim. It's about $600, but very usable and good for
resale value.

Also FYI about price : I ordered 2015 GL350 at the beginning of August 2014, got it - November 9, 2014. Price - invoice minus $1K minus $3000 fleet at that time. MSRP $77K. Selling price $68,200.

Good Luck.

I highly suggest these few items:
1. Running Boards (cost from factory is very cheap, compared to after market)
2. Trailer Hitch (cost from factory is very cheap, compared to after market)
3. Lane Tracking/Blind spot (Essential for a big car like the GL)
4. Park Assist and Parktronic are two different pkg. The former comes with 360 Camera

If you're looking to save money, consider removing these items:
1. Illuminated Star (nice to have, but too dim during driving
2. Pre-Wiring

Also, I believe if you order the Open Ash Wood trim, you also have to pay $250 for special order fee. But not 100% sure.

Nope, not correct, the Ash is simply a $160 charge.

And to add to the rest....

If cost is a consideration, IMHO, I'd trade the Pano roof/Star/Power Easy Entry for any (or all) of the following since the GL has a standard sunroof:
- Lane Tracking Package

- Trailer Towing

- special order lower dash MB-Tex (it looks AWESOME in tan w/ satin Ash---I wish I had ordered it for our Tan/Ash interior)

- Heated Steering Wheel (unless you are in Hawaii). I though it was a gimmick and now find myself using it on mornings that are only simply cool and not just freezing.
Make sure to get the lighting package as planned (reference the threads about trying to add aftermarket HID kits) ---and this strictly personal opinion--- only order the running boards if you REALLY like the "look" as they are essentially useless (too narrow) and actually make things worse as they rub against your pants if you are tall enough to climb aboard without them. We were all set to order them until we test drove a GL with them and instantly knew we did not want them. YMMV.

My $0.02

Happy shopping!

I agree with this one. It is a cool feature and my kids like but as a driver or front passenger, you will never know you have it. I also think it makes having the 3 zone HVAC more necessary. If I were you, I would skip it and add some of the options others have mentioned if you are trying to keep cost down.

Also, I would shoot for a little more of a discount than you are already being offered considering there will be some minor exterior tweaks (lower bumpers) made that you will see on 2016 models arriving in August-September. The dealership will have a harder time moving the 2015's once the 2016's hit the lot. I wouldn't hesitate buying a 2015 because only those of us that own a GL will know the difference but you should still get a good discount for buying one at the end of the model year.

As much as we never use the sunroof, if it's a vehicle you are purchasing, I'd recommend getting it. The absence of a sunroof could have an effect on resale value beyond the option price new.

If you are leasing or plan to not part with it for 5+ years, another story.

My $.02.

Sunroof comes standard. We're talking about the pano sunroof. The standard sunroof also allows you to completely shade the interior. The pano does not.

Ahh,I wasn't aware there was a standard roof and a pano one.

I think the slide shade on pano does a fairly good job shading the back, but will admit I haven't owned it during summer months yet either.

Don't get me wrong, the pano sunroof is a neat feature and my kids really like it. I'm just saying that you can live without it if you are trying to keep the cost down. Again, as a driver, I would never know I have it. It really just benefits the rear occupants.

Thank you so much everybody for valuable suggestions, after reading all these i have to negotiate more, my dealer is stuck at that price,
Rest i am hoping no major changes to 2016, i am only opting to wait if 2016 has updated interior esp with the newer touch screen!

i realy hope Mercedes atleast announces it soon enough

I am following the GLS rumors thread,
My dealer says that it wont be available soon,
will update you guys once i negotiate with my dealer 👍
thanks all
