X166 GL550 all-season options? Winter performance of OEM Contis?

I realize this has been discussed some in the past but more time has gone by, the x166 has been out a bit longer...

Has anyone had success with an all-season option for the GL550's 21" tires??

I know the pros/cons with A/S tires but I think I want them.

I have 20k miles on my MY2015 550's OEM Continentals CrossContact UHP. They're now getting pretty loud and toward the end.

In looking at A/S options on TireRack, the only option I see is the Pirelli Scorpion Zero which has a lot of negative reviews. Is that really the only option??

As a side note I've always been confused at how my current Conti UHPs have the appearance of A/S tread pattern and are listed as M+S on Tire Rack yet are also listed as "Street/Sport Truck Summer" and don't say M+S on sidwall.

If they are really not M+S how can they be the OEM tire in all deliveries to northern climates (and beyond)??? Just doesn't make any sense.

because MB twisted some arms.............................

the zeros are pure summer and useless with a dusting of snow.... Contis aren't much better.

Did you mean the P scorpion zeros are pure summer or the Conti UHP the OP was asking about?

I took a shot at some A/S Chinese made tires last year - LionHart, and could not be happier. After over 25,000 miles, tire still is over 60%. It was also very good price-wise. Tires have been excellent in all types of conditions and you can buy them delivered for under $800 on eBay, or sites like Carid - http://www.carid.com/lionhart-tires/ where it is $764 for a set of 4 before shipping.

Another option is Lexani Tires which I have also heard very good things about.

I had the Scorpions on my 09 550. They were fine, and much better in bad weather. It is a truck. Summer tires are completely unnecessary. Just my opinion.

WE had the Pirelli all seasons from the factory, melted quickly and were quite loud, running the conti's a/s now, depends on your winter, we have a harsh winter up here, nokian hak 8's, but as far ans the two a/s options we like the conti's much more, better grooving for water too. We have the 21" wheel option too btw, 295/40-21.

I never take my GL out in bad weather because the traction is not as great. Doesn't matter which tire. Conti are ok, but not great.

In bad weather, I just take my H2 instead and the tires have been great even over 50k miles.

Nokian hak 8's on a GL makes crazy traction. Noisy but amazing.
