2014 GL550 CPO

Found one low mileage 2014 GL550 CPO in one of our local Mercedes dealer. It has all the options that i'm looking for except for couple but i'm ok with the compromise. It has following options
ACCESSORY CHROME PACKAGE
DRIVER ASSISTANCE PACKAGE
DISTRONIC PLUS® (with PRE-SAFE® Brake)
Driver Assistance Package
Burl Walnut Wood Trim
Heated Rear Seats
Heated Steering Wheel
Panorama Sunroof
Power EASY-ENTRY®
Pre-Wiring for Rear Seat Entertainment
Sunroof
Trailer Hitch

The price is $80K and mileage on it are 13842. So what do you think is the best price for this beast? how much can i get it down to? thanks for your input. btw, its a lease return.

I think this price is too high even for the asking price. If you go on autotrader.com - there are a lot of CPO 2014's with asking price range from $72 to $75 with similar options and mileage no more than 20K. I would offer them $70K.

MSRP of this CPO was $95740. Assuming 5% negotiation, purchase price would have been $90K. based on that the depreciation is only 20% if i ask for $70K. i thought this model depreciates more like 30% in first 2 years isnt it? Based on the numbers its evident how much markup these CPO vehicles have. I'm not even sure if they'll let it go even for $70K.

My observation is that the dealers price the CPO vehicles high when they first hit the lot. After a couple weeks, the price starts going down. It will continue to go down every so many weeks. Your job as a buyer is to watch the car and make an offer before the price gets to a point that another buyer snatches it up. I've seen some cpo GLs sell above market and others sell well below. How many other used 550s are on the market in the same area as this one? The fewer, the higher it will probably sell for.

I think you'd be safe calculating about 12.2% depreciation per year on the GL550. And CPO is an added cost because it's an extra cost to the dealership to qualify a CPO.

I don't know how much Mercedes is but for BMW it was/is approx. $1200. But that was years ago --- can't see it being too much more and probably at parity with Mercedes.
