2013 GL550 cargo mat help
Im searching for a foldable cargo mat that will work with the foldable 3row without taking the mat out or swapping with a smaller one when 3row seats are up. I would like to have a weather proof one so that it can handle spills and such.
Something like this would be ideal, unfortunately they dont have one for 2013 model:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Ben...0/371119180212
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure Mercedes makes an OEM/folding mat for the rear. I don't know the part number or have a photo on hand, but you can do a Google search and it'll pop up.

I that one from eBay will work on your 2013. The only difference is that you don't have a Velcro to attach it to on the seats. I have a 2013 and I have bought the same thing, for 89$ on eBay and bought some Velcro at the hardware store, attached it to the back of the seats and it works like charm. U don't need to take them out if you raise the 3rd row. It's not as great as the weathertechs ones I have on the front and 2nd row but it sure protect the cargo and you don't need to keep on removing it.

Mrkoopz is correct. It's exactly the same fit for the X166 (2013-2016) as the X164. The difference is that the X164 has a different carpet backing on the 3rd row seats so the folding cargo protector sticks to it.
You will just need to buy Velcro (buy the name brand with 3m backing tape) at your local hardware store and use it to attach it to the back. I had to put quite a bit on to make it hold because the change in temp releases the tape and doesn't always stick. So if you put enough velcro on there, it'll work in all weathers.

I bought one from Amazon and it was terrible. Definitely Weathertech is the way to go. I've had it in all my previous cars. Promptly returned the one from Amazon.

I used to have the one from Weathertech that is 2-piece for the Mazda CX-9. It looked like the current one for the GL except both pieces are meant to work together with overlap.

Update?
If you've used the x164 style mat in your x166 GL, would you mind letting us know how well it worked for you? I was hoping to buy this type of product. Since we live in Alaska, shipping and return shipping is almost always expensive, so I hope to order a suitable cargo area cover the first time.
We don't need it to be water tight, and prefer one that allows the use of just one third row seat, if possible.
Thank you!

I did purchase them and am using them for almost a year now. They fit well and am happy with the quality. I did not put velcro, as most of the time we have 3rd row folded with light cargo. They stay in place while driving even when we have stuff on top. You might want to consider adding velcro based on your needs. They also fold nicely even when we have one 3rd row seat up.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the mat. Would definitely recommend them.

I was hoping that would be the case. I haven't found a similar product advertised as compatible with the x166 so far.
One more question (sorry):
Is there a tall lip at the top of the second row portion of the mat? In other words, when collapsing the second row seats to carry a very long object, is there a problem when the object passes over the front edge of the mat?
Thanks!
Kevin
