Diesel Glow Plug

Does the GL350 have a traditional diesel glow plug? If so, how do you activate it without starting the car first? I pick up my GL tomorrow and understand that if the weather is warm the glow plug isn't necessary...is this true?

FWIW, I live in MN.

During the darkest depths of the winter the truck can sit outside all day with temps -20F and to start the truck all you have to do is briefly press the start button on the dash and let go. Regardless of outside temperature the truck's computers do all the required work from that single push.

It takes about a quarter second longer to start than in the summer.

This is not like your father's (or grandfather's) diesel.

When you push the start button the car automatically runs the glow plugs for the necessary amount of time and then starts. No action is necessary on your part, the car determines if they are needed and for how long.

I love that you referenced father's and gpa's diesels...they both had them when I was a kid and so did my gma. I remember the wait!. What memories!! I just read the manual and it all makes sense. I figured they had sped it up by now but didn't realize they totally eliminate the drive from the step. Thanks!!

It's so quick! Amazing! I turned off the engine the first time I started thinking I had to hit the button again. But it is so simple. Thanks!
