GL550 Off road tire fitment
Looking to get 20" wheels with KO2 Tires for part time desert use. Take off the 21" and put on these for our monthly trek.
Will LT275/55R20 fit in the wheelwell?

Post a pic on here when you do put them on. I'm curious what our GL's look like when a set of those KO's on!

Those rims with the tire package look awesome. Where did you get them, and what size / offset. would be a great winter/snow tire package for a few month's.

For the asks above, I got the tires and rims from a local shop in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The shop name is EZ Auto (905) 709-9969. You can call the shop and ask about KO2 tires on MB GL.
Tires are BFgoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 at size 275/55r20— one of the best AT tires ever invented. These sets I had on my F150 truck before and it was amazing in snow so I wanted for my GL in winter time.
Rim im not too sure it should be GTS performance rims at size of 20x9.5. Perfect fit for GL or Audi RS7.
I also got inquired about the roof basket. It is Thule Canyon XT with extension sitting on top of Thule Aeroblafe crossbar. No special modification is needed.

Yes....I know this is an epic thread bump.... but as I’m looking at doing this soon, would anyone happen to know the backspacing on this wheel? Also, would anyone know if a 285/55/20 would fit without rubbing? I definitely want a set of Ko2’s and I’m not replacing another tire on my amg 21’s. Prefer mail order because it’s cheaper but I feel I’ll end up at a local tire shop just so I can be sure of the fitment.
im looking at a 20x9.5 wheel...but I can get a 20x9 or 20x10, but I just have no clue what et to settle with. I like the look of the op’s setup but wouldn’t mind a little more meaty tire if it won’t rub///285. Yes, they are taller than factory. Anyone have more insight? Driving me crazy looking at options.

I believe the ET is 50 for a 10" wheel. Quick cheat, go to Tirerack.com and see what ET they selling for your GL and do a search online for a better deal/selection of wheels and tires. 285 would fit without issues. 305/40/22 fits without issues too.

Thank you, I'll check that out. I was just down in the garage checking the clearance on the factory size 295/40/21’s and it’s pretty tight. I know the ones I’m looking at are around an inch larger in diameter so I just want to make sure I’ve got the right offset before committing to a mail order package. I’d rather not have to massage the fender liners, but I can if I need to. 285/55/20 is what I’m leaning towards. wheel spec is still Up in the air and I’m open to suggestions. 20x9.5, et 50?
So many choices. . . . .

Nice rig....
I gave up on the new wheel tire combo for now. I only drive the GL a few thousand miles per year at the moment so I just couldn’t justify it, but the boy racer in me needed something, so I opted for spacers. 17.5mm all around with appropriate bolts. It’s subtle but it looks much better to me, what can I say. Hopefully others will post up some pics of some more options in the future. Sorry I didn’t get before pics.....you all have one, you know what they look like.
i really wish we could get a more aggressive tread in a 21”....I love these wheels, don’t love our tire options.

Im looking for new AT tires as well, but want to go 19" so I have the smallets rims and the biggest sidewall possible.
Anyone have experience with either of these? 255/65R19 GoodYear Wrangler DuraTrac or All Terrain Adventure

I initially tried to go 33" and it was to big. Even with 3" of lift I would have had to cut the front bumper and rear would rub on Hinge pillar pinch weld. Also didn't look good in wheel opening. Ended up with a 275/55/20 that ran large OD for its size had minor rear rub and modified front of liners to clear. This is also with K-Mac lower control arm bushings to fix camber due to lift.

Look great...I saw rivian had that on their trucks...very cool.
I am thinking of put on my 2010 gl550. Time for new sets of tires, so wondering for mud tires.
Just concerned a bit about road noise.
I'd upgraded on my land cruiser 80series...Look great.
