Speedometer with segments "red lights"
Speedometer with segments "red lights"
Took 2014 GL550 for oil change and when I got it back the red lights on speedo that show you where the speed you selected do not light up ? They used too , The cruise operates fine/distronic is this a setting the repair shop shut off any help is appreciated. Thank you
Hi new member here. From the UK and recently purchased a GL350.
I have the same issue as above. The speedometer segmen lights light up on ignition but after that i never see them on whilst using cruise control. Getting the garage i bought it from to have a look but it would be useful to know if there is an option or something that turns it off?

Tried the Distronic "cruise control" on a long and fast stretch of highway. The two red lights on either side of the speedometer needle definitely illuminate when cruise control is engaged AND you are cruising at the set speed. Once you get within range of another vehicle and your speed drops they no longer illuminate ... I think, but what would be the purpose if the needle is no longer between them?
Paid closer attention to mine today. When I set cruise a segment lights at the set speed as long as I maintain that speed. When the car senses a vehicle ahead travelling slower, it appears that the segments between my set speed (high limit) and the speed of the slower vehicle (low limit) all illuminate. As the car adjusts to the environment (decelarate and accelerate) the segments adjust accordingly. I could be way off, but that is my initial observation.

did you find any solution on this issue? What did your dealer say? I got same problem with the res lights on my 2014 GL350. Thanks...
The dealer had to reprogram the speedometer. Exact text from the invoice says, "Connected battery charger and ran short test and no codes related to issue. Went into instrument cluster and reset control unit for speedometer and now working properly."
I have found the solution for this problem, which is free of charge and will take you max. 10 minutes to fix it. My car was also at the service recently, where they did the reset of the service interval and after i got my car back, this function did not work any more.
I assume there is a software bug that cause this function to be disabled whenever they do a service interval reset.
Solution: just disconnect the car battery from the car and leave it disconnected for 5-10minutes. I am talking about the battery which is under the hood, not the one inside the car - auxiliary battery.
This solution worked 2x for me already.

We don't have batteries under the hood.. Are you sure about that?
