Exclamation part number ID and confirm

So my GL doesn't have exhaust tips on the lower valence instead it runs underneath to the rear bumper and I feel it needs to breathe better so am looking to install the appearance package lower valence on mine. If anyone had the part number and can positively confirm the GL550 tips will work with that then I am going to order it. Thanks for the help all.

Close up

What am referring too

Dont get your hopes up. You may get 1 whole horsepower increase from changing tips, and thats being generous

I wasn't hoping for more HP my RennTech ecu is good enough but there's room for more.Sadly nothing else can be done on these engines I was told by RENNTECH Miami. That the Ecu is only major gain. No sense in me doing downpipes if I don't even have an exhaust system.

Looks to me like someone did not run the exhaust pipes through the bumper as they came from the factory. Some GL/ML like yours has the real exhaust vents in the bumper where as my ML just has the black solid lower piece. Mercedes has changed this on the Ml depending on model year or if it is a ML63. Unless, I am wrong or missing something, your pipes were probably changes by someone , they should go through the bumper .

Whether they go through the bumper or are like yours under the bumper, it would have no impact on power since all the restrictions on flow i.e. muffler, resonator etc are all before the tail pipe area.

A gaggle of MB's
Isa - we're talking GL's here - not ML's - in this particular year - chrome/tips were part of Appearance Package - actually appropriate - meaning Appearance..

If you've done RennTech 91 octane ECU - you're at where you're at -which will be damn impressive... if you're "thinking about it"... downpipes are a waste ... and 93 octane ECU is not for you

This will not yield any gains.

If you wanted more why didn't you just buy the GL63?
It would have been cheaper in the long run and you'd have the resale value as well where as the changes you're making isn't going to add value to the vehicle in general.

What won't yield any gains?

Hmm let's see the 63 is a 90k dollars vehicle and at the time only the 450 was in my budget I kind of wish I went with the 550 though. It doesn't bother me about the value I just want to enjoy my truck for a while.

I was referring to making 4" of exhaust pipe straight at the very end of the system will not yield gains.

"At the time" didn't you just get the GL about ten days ago? Either way my point was that it would be a better approach to just get the 550 or the 63 but your cash, your car, your call.

Nope I've had this truck since 2015. After adding those upgrades I think it won't be a good idea to get a 550 now? Honestly my 450 is like a jet IMO. I am just looking at other alternatives to make more power but there isn't any. The only other thing I could do is BMC filter and downpipes and that'll get me about 40hp at least I hope

My 2014 GL 450 has the tips showing. It's prob part of the appearance package. Your photo shows the 19" rims. If that photo is representative, then you don't have the appearance package. Since you have a modded GL, why not keep it appearing stock and be a sleeper?
