Hello good people,
How much is everyone averaging on their city and highway MPGs? I do roughly 16 in the city (drops down to about 12 with the ac on) and about 18.5 highway.
I was reading someone's post where they said they get 25 highway. Only way I think I could pull that feat off were to just let it coast down a hill for 30 minutes... Or maybe my vehicle really isn't running as efficiently as it should be. Just curious on what everyone is averaging. It's probably be brought up before but why not revisit it?

Gas Mileage
I have a 2015 ML350 4 Matic, with approx 37,000 miles. I do not do much city driving in that Im retired and live in the suburbs, but I average 21 MPG. My highest has been 23 and lowest 19 mph but normally its around 21mpg.
I also use mid grade gas, not premium.
One recommendation is to check you tire pressure. I run mine at 36 PSI and check them manually every month. Also, I still have the original tires on mine. Proves I'm an old Fart

Boy 25 would be nice, but I don't think there is any chance that is gonna happen for me.... 2012 ML63....
We did do a run from Sarasota to Palm Beach and back this weekend though...
Average was around 17, about 20% city and maybe 60% at 65mph.... then another %20 on rte 75 at 80-85....
1 thing I did notice, even though it's a 7 speed im at 2500 rpm at around 75-80... i would have thunk that the 7th gear would be a overdrive... guess not....

GL350 Bluetec and GLS580
'13 GL350 I get 22 city and best on the highway was 28.3. Daily commute is 23/24 mpg mixed suburb and city driving in rush hour.

Correct mine is a V6 but remember its an ML and smaller than the GL but with the same engine. I would expect yours to be a little lower than mine due to the extra weight.

The in dash car computer reads high on mpg. If mine says 23 average on 20 gals mixed driving, when I do the math (each time, I'm also on fuelly.com) it's gonna be 21.3 about. I guess at least 7% inaccurate. Highway the car says 26.5, turns out 23.8 or something. This is a GL350.
Point is this could be the case for you so run the math and don't trust the car readout if you're really interested in tracking economy.
Over 15000 miles suburban lifestyle work commute and a few trips I'm at 21 ave from my big bluetec.

Fuelly and I agree completely that the car's computer is way optimistic by at least 7%! Don't believe the car computer mpg numbers, folks, until you verify.

My 2010 ML Bluetec averages 24 mpg on my daily commute. Interesting thing is the 2013 GL has a higher gas mileage rating than the 2010 ML Bluetec on paper.

My 2013 GL computer is pretty dead on unlike my 2010 ML which is up to 3 mpg off.

Best yet, all highway at 70, 18.5mpg. Looks like I'm averaging 15-17mpg in mixed (80/20 highway) and a 425-500 mile range. Far cry from my '10 Touareg TDI, which averaged 24-26mpg and 550-600 mile range.

Mp, that's almost identical to what I'm getting. 15-18 mixed driving. That Touareg sounds like a dream compared to that.

The 550 has active curve suspension and the off road package. So in sport mode, it's no slouch. Everything tightens up quite nicely. That said, because of the longer wheelbase, in spirited driving, you just need that extra tick to think through your next move. With the Touareg, it was an extension of your eyes, hands and feet. Just point-n-shoot...
But dieselgate (repurchased at 60% of my original price) + a growing family forced the 3rd row. The Q7 is too small and wanted to avoid truck based platforms.
I'm hoping for a similar love affair with the 550, but the Touareg TDI is proving to be an unforgettable first love...

My 2015 GL350 now has 45k miles......mostly highway. I average 19-20 mpg in town and 24-26 mpg on the highway depending on speed which is usually 80 mph driving up and down I 77 and I 95. Love the nearly 700 mile range! Always make it a plan to fill up in S. Carolina where diesel can be had for $2.09--$2.29 per gallon.
On a side note I read that 'diesel gate' may be coming to Mercedes Benz (already in Europe). Whatever, this is the absolute best road tripping vehicle on the planet!

Based on the MB diesel gate articles I read, we may only get a fix vs financial payoff, "store credit", etc.. like Audi. If the fix decreases MPG shouldn't we get paid for the lack of truth about MPG?

With the 550 gasser, I got two out of three...
Oh to have a diesel/electric drive line. Could you imagine the range, fuel economy, and performance?

There's been mention of a $250mm MB settlement, and some pow-wow in Germany among all the diesel manufactures. Doubtful, hopefully, it'll be a drama filled and dragged out as it's been since 9/15, for us VW owners. Notheless, the US regulators have a bulls eye of fossil burners in general, and diesels in particular.
It's been a crazy outcome for me: 60% of my purchase price + $1000 credit card + $1500 from Bosch. That said, all I really want was a diesel (ideally with a plug in electric hybrid system), sport suspension (multi level air ride), and a useful 3rd row.

Today in the USA, the Jaguar SUV is about the only diesel one can buy unless you want a domestic truck. Too bad......maybe Mr. Trump will dismantle the EPA?

Driving 2017 GLS550, city mileage is 12, highway mileage ranges from 17 to 20.5 using 91 octane.
Run between So.Ca. and Phoenix 2 times per month, get 20.5 with cruise at 78MPH in CA and 19.5 in AZ with cruise control at 87MPH.

Great numbers. Good to know I'm not far off the mark with mine compared to everyone else who's got the 8 cylinder.
