Active Lane Keeping Assist

Can I have this option and it's not programmed for me to turn it on? Reason I'm asking is because i have a crack on my windshield. I went to get it replaced, Safelite told me they ordered the wrong glass based on what the insurance company knows about my car. The tech saw there's a camera under the rear view mirror. He told me it was Active Lane Keeping Assist but I swear I don't have that option. (Bought the car CPO btw)
They took my vin number and verified it with a dealer that they work with. The person told them it's Active Lane Keeping Assist. But I don't see the options to enable it.
So confused....

that option is in the driver side display not the center console upfront, it will be under settings u get using arrows on left steering column, but u might just have the design but no actual camera in it, and its not under rearview mirror it is above in the under front plastic pieces near the windshield, one can see horizontal lines from outside on the windshield.

sorta related.... I turned it off... driving by a car on a 2 lane road and it pushed me over a foot or so, I found it unsettling...

and yes I found it under the menu's using the left side steering wheel buttons as well....

You probably have "passive" lane keeping assist. I think that was standard on all x166 GLs.

That's what I have on my vehicle, and it has the camera in the place you're describing.

I get warning lights and a vibration in the steering wheel if I cross a detected center lane without turn signal ... but the vehicle does not utilize the brakes or countersteering measures to "correct" lane departure.

Personally, I like the passive MUCH better than the active system.

So weird. I don't have any of what you guys described above. Does anyone know if the camera is used for Attention Assist?

If you have active lane keeping assist, means you have the Driver Assistance package which means Distronic. See your front Mercedes emblem. Do you see just a star or do you have a little rectangular flat plastic in addition to the star?

A gaggle of MB's
Good tip on spotting front grill "flat Star hologram" is Driver's Assistance w/Active Lane Keeping - and metal/3D is standard - which means if it has Passive Blind Spot you also have Passive Lane Alert.

Camera is used for both Lane systems.

Camera is not used for really for Attention Assist - since that system dials itself up during evening hours - for steering detection Attention Assist uses the steering angle sensor input as one major parameter for "wavvy driving"

I don't have any of those mentioned.
So it's still a mystery to me on what the camera does on my car then.

Sorry, I'm using the picture from that thread. I circled where that camera is.

I've the same camera there. And I don't have driver assistance package for active assist. I think that's the rain sensor. There are 2 sensors there. The smaller one looks like a light sensor. Hence I think this is the rain sensor. I could be wrong.

But if you have the ordinary 3D star in front, then you don't have driver assist and definitely not active assist.

Yeah, the smaller one is the rain sensor.
