GL550 normal coolant temp and fan/noise after engine shut off

Picked up a 2015 GL550 last week and had a couple questions.

Is it normal to have a fan or noise run up to 5 minutes after the engine is shutoff? Seems like it coming from driver side close to the firewall.

Also my normal coolant temp is close to 90 - 95C. My S55 is always just over 80C, so the GL550 definitely runs warmer and its cold out (35F) Do most run closer to 100C instead of 80C? See second pic.

My coolant temp sits in the exact same spot. Been there for 4 years. I also have a 2013 550

Thanks Jim. Have you heard a fan like noise run for minutes after turning off the engine? My S55 had a known issue where the secondary air pump relay would go bad and would stay on and burn out the pump. It's not that loud but seems excessive when it runs five minutes.

my temp gauge is also the same spot, no problem the past 1.5 years.

i recall hearing some fan noise after shutting off the car but didn't pay attention for how long, i always thought it's to cool down the turbo

I don’t recall ever hearing the fan noise. Hear a lot of noise from the air suspension raising and lowering but not a fan. Granted it is pretty cool here so maybe it is a warm weather thing

I am driving a new to me 2015 GL450 and will say my coolant runs at exactly the same temperature.

There is a definite humming coming from under the hood after I shut the car down. I am under the impression that is it a
pump circulating coolant (water or oil?) through the turbocharges to cool them off.
I have not timed it but 5 minutes seems about right.

yup, my diesel does the same. I would for pre maintenace do a coolant flush every 30,000 miles.

My Temp gauge reads the exact same thing. Don't have the same fan noise though. Air suspension makes some noise after the car is turned off sometimes...

Temp range

I am glad to see this we just got a 2013 550 and i was wondering if it was supposed to run at that temp. I sat there and watched it time and time again then figured it had to be right because it never went hot it stayed at or around 90C.

I’ve been hearing my fan for up to 5 seconds after shutting down engine. I hear it pretty often. Not 5 minutes though.

Hello, Any resolution on your temp question that you have posted. mine is roughly on same spot but no fan running after shut off. How's heat inside the cabin?
