Will the GL63/ GLS63 Brake kit Fit behind GL450/ GLS450 20 inch wheels?
I did a search but did not see the answer. I am looking to boost the braking power of our 2015 GL450 (X166).
I am wondering if the 2015 GL63's rotors/ calipers will fit behind the GL450's 20 inch wheels.
Has anyone installed them on their GL?

I don't understand why you need to increase the 'braking power'. Will your truck not lock its wheels and get into the ABS? If not there might be something wrong with the master cylinder or booster. I would flush the brake fluid and consider upgrading the pad compound before upgrading calipers and rotors, it's not a track car.

Are you sincerely asking, or are your questions rhetorical? It's obvious that the vehicle is not a track car. Were you otherwise attempting to educate me? And are you saying that the GLS63 is a track car since it has upgraded calipers and rotors? I am not seeing your logic in that statement.
If you help me understand your need to understand then I will help you understand my "need"/ want to increase braking power. It might just result in a potentially valuable contribution to the forum.
Thanks however for the ancillary information provided in your response. That's what automotive forums are for.
The master cylinder. booster. brake fluid, pads are all working as they should. The truck will lock the wheels and go into ABS. That however does not mean that the system cannot be improved. So if you know the answer to the actual question, feel free to answer.

I'm curious about the brake upgrade as well, solely for aesthetic reasons. But I may just end up having the calipers painted, I can't stand the raw metal of the standard calipers that gets surface rust after washes.

I see that Brembo makes a brake kit for the GL350/ 450/ 550. I would rather have something more subtle than their red calipers however. Perhaps silver or black. agree with you on the aesthetics as well.

Youll be talking 4 compleltly new spindels, pads and rotors, at minimum. Other harware? Dont know if anyone has been down this road, so possible.
And if we judge potential wheel fitment by the 20" sized options known to work on a GL63, youre also likely talking 4 new wheels as well if you go with the swap.
Bold idea and something that would be badass for sure, but doesnt sound cheap by any stretch.
What is going rate for used GL63 brake setup?

Sounds like an expensive proposition. I didn’t think about the possible hardware add-ons like sensors and modules. The brake characteristics and threshold for the ABS system could be very different, not just a rotor and caliper swap.
I'll get in touch with my Indy guy and get his thoughts.

I'm willing to sell my front brake setup (AMG caliper, rotors and pads). Calipers have ~60k miles on them. I just replaced the rotors and pads, they have ~1k on them.
They are currently on my 2014 GL63.
Send me a private message if so.

Probably not since the 2012 is the previous body style; only way to find out for certain would be to research the OEM parts between the models: i use this site - https://www.mercedesbenzofdurham.com/parts-catalog.htm

The appearance pkg 20's seem to have a tight clearance with the wheels spokes and caliper. The fact that the GL550 and GL63 have slightly wider wheels with different offset (and wheel well flares), I think you might be running clearance issues on the face of the calipers and wheel spokes. That might be remedied by using a small wheel spacer potentially. I don't know if rotor diameter is going to be in place as well. It'd be nice if you knew someone with a GL63 to test fit your stockers on.

I'm also in the process of doing the same on my GL550, could you share the parts needed to do the conversion? Anything obscure besides calipers, rotors and pads?

Looks incredible, I like the silver color, very classy from the standard Red. Do post pictures with the wheel in.
