Turn signal stalk acting up
#51
Just found this thread. Perhaps exact same issue as mine. I added a thread earlier (Turn signal increasingly intermittent W166) as I have the random no turn signal issue. Did the swop for a new module solve the issue long term? Thanks.

Speaking for myself, so far the issue hasn't returned.

Although A 166 900 01 08 9051 also showed up in EPC. It is not listed as a replacement for another part, but has a note "from 12.06.15"
Maybe its a GLS thing, that there are 2 different parts listed? Dealership might be more hopeful to sort out the distinction. For my GL it still looks the same, 1 original part and 1 newer direct replacement.

Just circling back to close the loop on my experience - I reached out to the dealership in FL that was recommended (benzpartshq.com) to order the part that mekantor told me was the one for my car. As he suggested, there's an updated part number for this part and they were able to help me sort that out. The list price for the multi switch is $535, with their online purchase discount the price of the part was $400, they also recommended replacing the steering wheel bolt and buying the clip which self destructs when removed. Total cost for those additional parts was $8.50.
I'm a DIY type person but definitely not an automotive mechanic. I followed the process described here and watched a few YouTube videos and then just started the project. All in it took me 1:15 start to finish (which was a lot less than I expected). All the switches & functions worked perfectly after the swap. I had my first drive of over an hour last night and I'm very excited to say my problem with the blind spot turning off and the blinkers not working did not reoccur! I'll need to take few more trips to be 100% confident the issue is resolved, but I'm feeling good about it so far!
mekantor - I'm going to send you an e-mail this weekend so I can figure out how to compensate you somehow for the help. We were literally at the end of our rope with this problem (which had gotten to the point that it happened every time after driving an hour). The dealership was of no help because the won't drive the car an hour to duplicate the problem, so we were getting to the point where we were potentially going to have to replace the car. Now we don't have to!
Very happy outcome. Thanks to all.

Mekantor, can you help identify the part number for my VIN - 4JGDF2EEXDA176615.
I have experienced the same behaviour and been living with it for a few months so finally ready to tackle this before the winter comes through.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Mekantor. Any chance you could explain the differences depending on VIN? I have already bought a second hand part but not yet fitted it. I didn't know there were different part numbers!
Thanks in advance and for your help to everyone on here, it's taken me ages to find a decent answer to my problems.

One of these is probably the clip, they are cheap so perhaps get both: A0008230245, A0015459373

Also your car's datacard has code 806 - "YoM X5/1" ... A16690004089051 does not include that one, but A16690095079051 does.
For both 9051 is the color code - Black
P.S. - I don't know where you found 166-900-99-07-64-9051, I don't see it for your VIN.

Thank you so much for your help but it's so confusing....
I asked buymercedespartsnow.com the same question and this was their response:
166-900-99-07-64-9051 does not apply to your vehicle. 166-900-04-08-9051 shows to be the correct one for that VIN.

Not sure where you originally got A-166-900-99-07-64-9051 from, but yes I'd agree it does not apply.

I read through the X166 forum regularly and I remembered this thread because of how cool it is that you help out looking up the right part number for people. Yesterday we took a trip to the mountain and our 2015 GL350 started doing exactly what is described here. Can you look up the correct part for my VIN 4JGDF2EE7FA546163? I saw someone mention that the replacement bolt and clip only cost them $8.50. Can I get those part numbers also?
Thanks...Jeff

The clip is one of these: A0015459373, A0008230245. Not sure which, but they are a few dollars so if you get them please post photos. Good luck!
