Rear screens don't show video
Hello,
Going on a trip tomorrow and trying to figure this out for the kiddos, and partly for me because I like to have things working.
I set COMAND to play DVDs from the changer, and set it to be the source for the rear entertainment system. The headrest screens are switched to COMAND and show the controls and playback time for the video, but instead of video its just black. Sound works in the wireless headphones. Has anyone come across this before?
I tried the DVD player in the center console but it might be too dusty or something, the screens just say "loading..."
Thanks!

Have kids been stuffing things in the dvd slot? Water or the like?
Helped someone on here. Her kids put a lollipop stick in The dvd console. Shorted out the player and tv tuner (eu spec). Required replacement of both.

No kids haven't messed with it. I saw that post. I'll clean or replace the rear drive at some point, and I can find it cheaper most likely.
What I'm more confused about is why it wouldn't show the video being played on the front COMAND screen. I know the moons have to align in terms of having all the menu items set correctly, but I thought I got it, and it shows the playback time just no video.

Previous owner or used car dealership did something that's for sure. Found some prophylactics and contraband in various places that don't get cleaned, such as under the battery.
Replacement DVD drive shipped to me with a free disc inside as well, Full House Season 1 Disc 1.

just wondering , is that solve the problem which you faced earlier about displaying the front Command Video on Rear screens ?
I have the same problem and recognize something strange , MY DVD eject is getting Orange light upon start the engine and switch off after a while and CD Stuck at Loading then shows no disk is available , also rear screen doesn't show the front Video played at command …only Dark screen.
does the New DVD required any programming or just replace it and it will work straight away , I have GL 500 , 2015 Model

I sincerely wish it could play video from USB to make it all much simpler.

Just to know if mine is faulty or it is a Cabling issue

I'll take a look at it later today. I'm usually at the front and the rear DVD drive is closed, so I never have a chance to see it.

Sorry if I bothered you a lot as the Agent told me he can't refund the money if it turn its a cable issue as mine wasn't showing continuous light during the trip.

Thanks, was this light up during the entire trip or light up for 4 to 5 minutes and switch off after so once the dc was running?

I didn't take a trip, just started up. Based on my experience, these lights would stay on as long as the car's light sensor detects that it is dark and enables all the interior ambient/button lights.
If you have a multimeter, you can remove the drive and check for 12V DC on the cable going to the unit. And of course before you dig into that, verify that the associated fuse is good.
