How long have you owned the vehicle? Has it always sounded this way during your ownership? Sounds OK to me.

This is a new sound for me. I've owned and own numerous Mercedes and I've never heard anything quite like this.
Also, one other thing I should mention. The car occasionally emits an extremely potent gasoline smell - like the engine is burning very rich. Again, I've never experienced this problem with any other Mercedes.

I have a 2014 V8, twin turbo. mine started making a noise like that, took it to the dealer, could not find anything wrong. the oil burning was within spec, 5 months later, i need a new engine.
The is some discussion around faulty heads and the valve guides coming lose, not sure.
I hope i am wrong but keep an eye on it.
