Ignition coil connectors

What is correct way to remove ignition coil connector? I have slid forward the grey tab, but nothing seems to be moving. Don’t want to force it.

thanks in advance

Release the latch. Depress the latch against the harness connector body while simultaneously pulling/wiggling the harness connector. It will eventually come free.

The connector sleeves have tight fits, and oil or dust that get in there creates friction and makes it hard to separate the two connector halves. A way to alleviate this is by using compressed air to blow out the connector crevice before attempting to separate them. Also a small thin piece of metal (x-acto knife blade, but be careful) can break up the dust or grime to reduce the friction.

Senior Leigh, user 39039 on this site, has a great video for this. 2:19 is what you are looking for. But watch the entire video and you will see several different connectors removed. They all share the same principle of operation.

Thanks, just what I was looking for. Just didn’t want to force the connection in case I cracked the plastic

@Andy Scott agree. Go slowly and keep constant pulling tension and wiggling while holding the released latch against the connector body. It will come off. Hot air from a hair dryer or heat gun (be careful) will make the plastic more flexible and help disassembly. If you are in a cold climate now this will help. If you’re in Miami, ignore this idea.

Thanks, one I knew what to do, they came off easy. I think the cold snap and the fact that the engine had been cold for a few days didn’t help.
