Keyless go module fuse
Hi All. I have been searching the forum for few hours and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for the fuse that controls the keyless go module. I have read the list of fuses on the location chart but Keyless go is not listed so I'm thinking it is part of another system. My keyless go stopped working today on both fobs. Replaced batteries on the fob but still no luck. When trying to push button start, console says key not detected.
I'm thinking to check for a blown fuse and even if the fuse is not blown, removing and re installing it may reset the module
Thanks

how do you know the system is fused-----what you really want to know is what has faulted and to do that you need factory or equal diagnostics and yes it aint free.

Key not detected faults sometime go away on their own.
Fob new batteries are a must.
Failure point is usually the door handle or fob. You need to do systematic diagnosis to narrow down what is working and what isn’t.
start button works?
each of the four door handles touch-lock work?
each of the four door handles touch-unlock work?
liftgate exterior button works?

Hi Guys. I don't know if the system is fused. I was hoping some one would chime in with appropriate comments. I have put in fresh batteries in the fobs

Couple more:
interior door lock buttons work on all 4 doors?
liftgate button works on driver's door?
liftgate close button works on liftgate (red button)?
all of the tests listed on this thread have the same results with both fobs WITH FRESH BATTERIES?
The candidates are:
- fobs
- antennae (there are approx 6 antennae)
- control module
How many miles on this vehicle?
What is your history with it / how long and how many miles have you owned/driven it?
What is the entire service history of this vehicle to the best of your knowledge? Accidents? Water damage?

interior door lock buttons work on all 4 doors?. I only have lock buttons on the front doors and yes both work
liftgate button works on driver's door? Yes
liftgate close button works on liftgate (red button)? Yes. Both red button and the lock button on the lift gate works
all of the tests listed on this thread have the same results with both fobs WITH FRESH BATTERIES?. Correct fresh batteries
The candidates are:
- fobs. If this is the case it is strange of them to both die at the same time
- antennae (there are approx 6 antennae)
- control module
I'm also thinking antennae of module. More likely the module (hence my reason for starting the thread).
How many miles on this vehicle? 90,800 miles
What is your history with it / how long and how many miles have you owned/driven it? Bough the vehicle in 2017. It had 14k miles on it.
What is the entire service history of this vehicle to the best of your knowledge? Accidents? Water damage? Regularly serviced at the MB dealer. Have had few non regular items replaced. Both front struts, center console a leaking XM antenna etc. No major history of any electrical issues. No history of accident or water damage that I know of. I did check carfax before purchase it matched the known history.

Thanks for answering all of the questions. Do you have a scan tool? As Plutoe suggested you need to see what's going on electronically. This icarsoft is used by memers on this site: https://www.icarsoft.com/Product/s-2...oft_mb_ii.html
Xentry is best (dealer scan software) if you have it. benzninja on this site can provide more info on Xentry.
Just for kicks, do you have any signs of water infiltration in the rear? For example, broken/torn/folded liftgate seal or taillamp gaskets? Check in the spare tire area for signs of water. The X164 is well known for this and it's not clear if W/X166 are free of this.

From X164 but the symptoms seem similar to yours. A new module is probably close to $1000. Use your VIN in mbparts.mbusa.com or http://mbepc.net/#gsc.tab=0 to search for the module.

@chassis thank you for the tips about scan tools and the parts website. I'll look up how much the module is. The appointment is scheduled for this Friday so that will probably happen before I can get the appropriate scan tool/software. Will let you guys know what the dealer says

Found the Keyless go module fuse for the W166, but...
The fuse is located at an unaccessible spot next to main battery under front passenger seat. #56
