I have a 2014 GL63 AMG. The led strip in the passenger's side headlight has gone really faint/dull and I'm getting warning lights on the dash "intel light system inoperative" and also a front left parking light fault.
I tried changing both ballasts and also took it to a local Mercedes coding guy but no luck.
I'm thinking I need a full headlight?
Has anyone had this issue before, can the strip be repaired or do I need a new headlight (anyone have one for sale)? P/N a1668203659
If you figure it out even if the cure is replacing the headlight, please come back and let us know. Far too many people come here looking for a cheap fix and never share their knowledge if the answer was not here. Please do not be that guy or gal.
Had the same error message on my 2014 gl550 but w/o dim LED symptom and with steering wheel tracking non-functional.
Inspected both headlight assemblies, removed LED bulbs, manually moved the rotating headlamp assembly left to right numerous times slowly to verify full range of motion. Took opportunity to put in new bulbs and viola it was operational again. The headlamp tracking mechanism had some kind of crud buildup on the rack gear and manually (and gentle) moving it side to side corrected it.
Update - The LED strip is powered by the module on the top of the headlamp unit. A chinese copy part got it working again. Anyone facing this issue - Before you do anything, swap your drivers and passengers modules to check.
