2017 GLS 450
Lower Radiator Hose 2013 GL550- DIY?

HI all, I have noticed a slight coolant leak on our 2013 GL550. I got under the car today and can see the coolant seeping from the hose going into what I believe to be the water pump. I googled the diagram and I believe it is known as the lower radiator hose. it goes three directions: one to the lower radiator, one to the engine (I think water pump) and then one smaller hose goes towards the rear.

Is this a simple change? I have an appointment at a local indy shop Monday and I wondered A. can it be done at home and B. how many hours should a job like this be charged? Thank you in advance.

Shop time according to AllDataDIY on my diesel (obviously yours may be different) is about an hour plus $55 for the part.
Remove panels, drain coolant, remove hose. Reverse to install. Can't be that hard. If it is time, put new fluid in. If it isn't time, reuse what you drained if you were able to keep it clean.

Assuming you have the 4.7 v8.. your should be very very similar if not identical to my E63 and our GLS 550. Definitely not the hardest job in the world keep a little bit of silicone spray handy and all in all it should be about an hour and a half assuming it is your first time. If I was to go out and do one of those right now I think I could get it in under half an hour on either car

Do the turbo coolant hoses while you are in there. They are a leak point too.

Before you start this otherwise straightforward job, you might need a Constant Tension Clamp remover with a extension where the hose connects to the radiator. It's a very difficult spot to access and those clamps, as good as they are, will be a nightmare to remove without this tool. I could well be wrong but check before you begin.
