I got about 2K off buried in the trade.

OEM Contis are useless and I mean useless in even the lightest dusting of snow... And the Pirelli Winter Scorpion are sold out for the season in the US... Had to get mine from Canada.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
We ordered a loaded (literally everything except B&O) GL450 back in the summer due to them not having any GL550 allocations available. Then my dealer called me a couple months later to tell me he got an allocation (they didn't get a single '13 allocation) for GL63, but it was a Jan build: Would I like to change it? "umm, YES!!!".
Today the salesperson texted me "GL63 and will be ready for delivery tomorrow". Wife is super stoked since we have had our LX570 for 6 years and 107k miles (95% put on by her), so she's ready for a change. Funny thing is, the LX570 has held up so well (her being a stickler on maintenance helped, I'm sure) I honestly can't justify the "need" for the upgrade. Great car but a bit boring.
She was a bit surprised I went for the AMG but, the fact is, the upgrade was more for me than anyone lol. I really like the LX570, but whenever I drive it, I feel it bit boring (I get the hand-me-down. Now on family outings and road trips, I'm sure my attitude will be much different.

You push the button to put the transmission in sport mode and the fun begins!

Oh yeah. We took delivery on Wednesday and WOW!!!

I don't get it, though. All these forums for the other AMG models (even R63, which sold in 2-digit amount), but no GL63 WTH?

I've asked that question myself... Send a request to the forum moderator.... I also just don't think that their are a lot of us out there... At least they could combine us with the ML63.

Be sure to take it easy until all of your temps are out of the blue under the AMG moniker...

Day 10 of fun with the best family hauler we've owned to-date. However, part of the deal with my wife if we got the AMG was a de-badge. This worked for me. While her preference is for a certain degree of anonymity (all the other mom's at school have GL450's and GL550's, and she'd rather blend in than stick out), mine is for the sleeper aspect. Now, only the truly savvy will know the difference. I know its weird thing for many when folks with non-AMG cars add the AMG badge, lol. The sleeper part will only get better if/when I decide to do the Renntech ECU.

the exhaust and brakes are a dead give-away lol, anyone that has a Mercedes will know its an AMG, especially with the brakes which you cant fake.

Nice... But the red calipers should be about as subtle as a sledgehammer wrapped in felt.

You should look into the chrome mirror covers off eBay from China... Just pay the dealer to install them as the driver mirror is $1200.

Please disregard the deer conflict damage....

Plus... You should consider tinting the driver/passenger windows a weeee bit.

Maybe the chrome hood fins and the door handle scoops....

Do each one individually till she notices and keep us posted.

My wife hasn't noticed one of my additions.... Just have to see if she notices the new ADV1 wheels! (When they show up)

I seriously doubt too many will notice the difference to know exactly what it is. So far, most of my friends/acquaintances (many of which owned/own MB's, but are not car people) have asked me what it is when they're looking right at it.
Cosmetically, it will stay as factory. I'm planning on only performance mods for this one.

The chrome fins on the hood clean up those awful cheap plastic vents on the hood.... And you look at them 92% of the time that you are driving...and the chrome inserts take care of the finger nail scratches under the door handles. Both are subtle... And btw ... OEM.

Cookstar,
I don't think that my chrome mirrors knock me down to the level of a PT Cruiser....... You should talk to Audi about it... They started to put brushed aluminum mirror covers on their high performance cars a long time ago.

The next time you see a GL550 (I doubt that you have seen a 63 in person)... Check the amount of chrome on the car compared to your to your Gl350.... It is significant.... On my car it works.

In my opinion plastic is better than chrome, that being said these vehicles were designed with the American consumer first in mind, and as we all know Americans still have a fascination with cheap chrome. I dont like the plastic chrome on my 120k vehicle and I find it very cheap looking, on the other hand the brushed metal that the 63 has is quite nice and that does not fall under the category of chrome, its a satin brushed finish much like what the Audi "RS" line of vehicles have.

I'm one that believes chrome definitely has its place. You should see the chrome bill on my Chevy Impalas (a couple of which are lowriders). Basically all trim that is originally anodized was dipped for added effect.
However I feel additional chrome just doesn't belong on an AMG model.
Now, anyone done Renntech ecu?

Mirrors in CF would look cool.

The thought had crossed my mind, but I wouldn't want to badge it as a diesel when it runs on gasoline.

Yup! Just the thought of someone filling with diesel instead

Question Diamond Pattern exist?

I read through every post and it still wasn't clear if the Designo leather on the GL63 can be ordered in the diamond pattern. For those who have ordered and received their GL63 can you confirm? And if so, how was it labelled on the order form? I have a GL 550 now with the diamond pattern and my wife loves it. I can't see going back to a non-diamond stitch with the new GL63. Thanks in advance.

The diamond pattern was not an option for the AMG at the time of order, spring of 2013. These variables always change though.

I am surprised that it is still hard to get a GL63 and very few are on road. Besides mine I have only seen one other on the road.

I've spotted four plus different ones in Seattle and one in Vancouver BC so far. From my small sample size that's quite a few in my neck of the woods.
