2014 Mercedes GLA Official Thread

Will the U.S. version be built in Germany? I'm excited about this model and the new c class coming up.
I know the new c class is going to be produced in the US, but I'm kind of weary about getting a new model, first run, totally redesigned, AND "built in a new factory" car.
I guess even if the GLA is from Germany, they probably had to build a new plant for that. BUT, the CLA is being churned out, and by time the GLA arrives, hopefully any kinks have been discovered with the A platform.
side note: It's kind of funny how they keep referring to the GLA as being a very "light" off-roader. Even in the promo video when she switches to "off road" mode, she goes all the way to......A VERY SMOOTH DIRT ROAD!!!! OMG!! lol
jokes aside, I really like the look of this. It'll be a great city driver with the occasional dirty-ish road moments one might need. I'll be able to option it out a lot more than my current c class, and still be in my budget!

I actually prefer the GLA to the CLA45 for some reason??? Throw a set of Nokian or Vresteins on there and you've got a "snowmobile." That CUV is going to look great in black as well.

It seems like it will be built in Mexico next to Infiniti Q30 (they share the same base): http://www.autoevolution.com/mercede...ico-66434.html which is I think a good thing after all. All 4 MB cars I had before were made in Germany and I wouldn't say the build quality was exceptional (except for 1990 420 SEL).
As for the diesel version - that would be awesome. But I have read that this small car does not have enough room for a big enough AdBlue tank so I guess we are out of luck:

Also, it seems like the diesel they use in MFA based cars (A,B,CLA,GLA) is not the awesome 2.1 Twin Turbo we get in GLK250 but some smaller Renault diesel engine so I think I won't miss it much.

Meet the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG Edition 1
Before I get into the details, I have to ask you what you think of the “Edition 1″ GLA45 AMG’s racing stripes. Are they a bit much? Let me rephrase that: Are they a bit much on a crossover? I’ll reserve judgment because I’m sure you have a lot to say about how Mercedes is […]

No Keyless Go. Apparently MB thinks so much of the $70k you drop here that they want you using technology from the 90's. You can get to your car and be made fun of by Kia owners who have it built in.

Well, it is very hard to go back to "no-keyless go" after you had one I am on my second "keyless" Benz and this is a "must have" for me now.
I just can't understand the reasoning behind this decision. You can option for the driver assist package for $2k+ but you can't get ~$600 Keyless Go? Weird...
By the way, I am curious how good this new DCT is. I heard some CLA250 owners are complaining that it can be jerky. Not sure, may be it's worth waiting for the new GLK?
By the way, are we talking about GLA250 or GLA45?
