Replacing Door Lock Pins
I can't believe I have to ask this, but being a Mercedes, it's inevitable - do the front and rear door lock pins just screw off? I'm interested in replacing the cheap plastic set with a set of stainless steel AMG pins (real or knock-off). Insanely expensive for the real AMG set from MB, but they look infinitely better.
Certain MB models require the door cards be removed to replace the lock pins because the snap on, as opposed to screw on.
Thanks!

I took a leap of faith and ordered a set of knock-offs from an eBay seller in CA. They were half the price of the AMG set and still made out of stainless steel.
Worth the shot I thought. I post pictures once I get them installed. Here's the link:

doorpinnen
Bedankt! [/ QUOTE]
Deze moeten ook passen.

I confirmed that all four unscrew. Same part # as the CLA.

Agreed!
That's why I'm not worried about the rear pins being shorter and not exposed enough to "open" manually. No one ever rides in my back seat so I am willing to risk someone getting trapped back there.
I appreciate the concerns of others - 17 page thread on the CLA forum, but not a concern for me.

I got a set for free from the dealer and just installed them. Simple screw off screw on for front and rear.
They stick out a bit less than the stock ones, but can still easily pull it out on locked position...but like others noted its more for style than you ever using them unless you have a catastrophic power failure or bad accident. (I think MB cars auto unlock doors in collision anyway).

Awesome! Thanks for the update.
Mine should arrive on Wednesday.

I ordered these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261729546438
There are probably cheaper ones, but these seemed the most legit. Here is a picture of them installed (removing the old one required pliers, they are screwed on tight).
It's unlocked here, when locked, they are almost flush, no more scratched elbows.

Those are the same ones I ordered. Note that the ad says "stainless" steel. The cheaper Chinese ones just say stainless metal. Not sure what that could be.

I just installed the door pins; it took all of maybe five minutes. The difference in appearance over the cheap stock plastic pins is amazing.

Rather have those so called "gaudy" ones than the knock off pins. The knock off photos look like they have a fairly rough surface finish. The knock offs look like they were quickly machined in China on a lathe with a tool that needed sharpening.

The ones I installed are machine smoothed with no apparent quality control issues.
I think the "real" AMG pins are engraved on top while the ones I have are printed. Not an issue for me as they are never touched anyway.

I can confirm the genuine AMG pins have the lettering engraved.
