My "new" GLA45 smells like wet socks

I got a 2019 GLA45 about a week ago and it smelled like air freshener when I first got it. Almost every car I've ever bought smelled like this at first. Dealers do it to cover up smoke smells. The air freshener smell wears off after a few weeks and then the cigarette smell wears off after a few months. It's not a big deal...
But this time, it appears to be covering a musty stench. I don't know if it's coming from the A/C or the upholstry. When I get in the car after it has sat with windows closed for a few hours, it's kinda dank. It goes away after airing out for the rest of the drive, but then it's back the next time I get in the car.
Is this a common issue with the A/C on these cars? If so, how do you clean it out?
Thanks.

I don't see evidence that it actually got wet, but I haven't crawled around under it yet, or lifted carpets and such...

Then, on a warm humid day, any warm humid day the car would stink like rotting catfish. I mean, it was bad.

What part of FL are you in? I'm from SWFL and got the car down there. Didn't expect the local Mercedes dealer to be such ****bags...

As for the A/C system, there are two cabin air filters which could be musty. Have someone swap those out too.
Might cost a few pennies to do these things, but that comes with buying a pre-owned vehicle. Good luck! Let us know what you can find.

I've never had to deal with the A/C or sock smells though, so here we go...

The car is at the dealer this weekend to take care of some more stuff the selling dealer tried to brush under the rug. Selling dealer is taking care of it so I'm not worried about the cost. They're replacing the cabin filter(s?)... Where is the second one, besides the one under the passenger side dash?

Apparently this fills with leaves and sticks and they get sucked into the fan and it pisses people off. Good thing I'm in the habit of vacuuming my car's external nooks and crannies.

It could just be that I've driven the car enough to blow out some crap that settled in there while the car wasn't being driven on the dealer's lot. It could be that I had the cabin filter replaced while the dealer was doing some other stuff (I didn't pay for it, but also didn't see the condition of the old filter). I also steam cleaned the carpets, floor mats, and alcantara, but I think the smell was mostly gone by that point.
I'm going to continue just leaving the A/C set to AUTO 24/7 as I've always done, and not follow "proper protocol" and see what happens.
