M-B extended warranty and/or Prepaid Maintenance warranty
6yr/100k = $7,015 (which means 2 years after the factory 4/50k)
7yr/100k = $8,165
6yr/75k = $6,555
The Prepaid Maintenance was quoted:
3 yrs = $1,950
2 yrs = $1,450
I plan to keep the car well over 4 years and do about 8,000 miles a year (so low mileage). I bought the maintenance plan but have until 1 year / first maintenance to back out of it.
For the GLC43 the 4 year / 50k mile warranty cost was $1,475
I called my local dealership and their pricing was:
- Service A: "starts at $249"
- Service B: "starts at $499"
Given circumstances I'd rather have paid as I went even if it cost $21 more. HOWEVER the finance manager explained that those servicing prices are "starts at", meaning they ONLY include the basics:
- oil and filter change
- fluid checks and corrections
...but if more work was needed, and she said it would be, then the cost would exceed the dealer's stated service charges, but it would be covered by the extended maintenance contract.
She claimed (and this is where I want to check and verify), that the following items would be required and additional to the basic servicing quotes I was given above by my local dealer:
- rear axle oil change (due at 10k)
- engine air filter replacement (due 10k, 20k, 30k, 40k)
- replacement park plugs (30k)
- brake fluid change (20k, 40k)
- wiper blade sets (10k, 20k, 30k, 40k)
And that if this work was required but not done the warranty may be voided.
Very interested in others insight here into whether I should stick with the agreement or back out of it.
