Airbag malfunction?

Hello,

After owning my new GLB for about 2 months an airbag light came on. It read "left curtain airbag malfunction", a trip to the dealer and a few thousand dollars later they said it was fixed. Three hours later the light came back on. Have any of the new GLB owners, or any new Mercedes owners, experienced anything like this? The first time the dealer said it was a manufacturing defect where the connector was bad so they replaced the whole airbag under warranty; this time I haven't notified the dealer because I don't want to have to leave my baby there for a few days and not drive it. If anyone has any knowledge of this issue or knows anything about it let me know.

Thanks

Sorry to hear. Let us know what the dealership says when you bring it back. You should be getting a decent loaner while your baby is in the shop. Good luck!

What do you mean by "and a few thousand dollars later"? The car is under warranty.

It’s still a capitalist society, someone’s paying for it whether that be me or the dealer. There’s not some magic wand that makes the cost disappear

Don't think the dealer pays, in fact the dealer gets paid to do the warranty work, everyone at the dealership benefits, the mechanic, the office staff, the parts depts. et al. The price of warranty work is calculated into the price of the car and if they don't get enough one year they'll get it on next years models, it's just part of the bigger picture that in the end MB needs to make a profit and return on investment, and yes don't forget shareholder return.
And in some cases the manufacturer ( MB ) will charge back the cost of the parts (the airbag or harness etc) and repair to the actual manufacturer of the part to recoup the costs. Just the way things work

hello, I own my GLB since Oct 2020, and I have exactly the same issue. However the "right curtain airbag malfunction". After visiting the local MB workshop, they reset the problem, but the light came on again next day......
Now I have to get theget back to the workshop and leave there as much as it takes to fix it.
After your post , I really don't know what to do!

Take a pic or video of the dash when the light comes on for your record, it needs to go to the dealer as it's not going to fix itself. Tell the dealer to get their regional service rep from MB involved.
